  • 2009 Depression Will Be Nothing Like 1929 [View article]
I agree with the article for the most part. Of course this depression will be different. As you state in reasons 4:

"We have the knowledge and ability to learn from the last economic debacle-history has basically made us smarter."

This is true but it is the same reason that was given by all of the experts when they were trying to convince us that we were not even going to have a recession. It almost seems like the people in charge are trying to learn the lessons of the past by looking at it through a Kaleidoscope. I agree we are smarter than we were in 1929 but the fundamentals always catch up with you.

I don't think this is the “end of the world”, but our government and pundits think are too smart to listen to people who knew this was coming. Some of those people are not crazy, some of them should be listened to. I started listening to some of them about a year and a half ago and they convinced me to get to get out of the stock market. I don't have to say how that worked out for me.

I will start consider getting back in the market this year.

  • A Simple Method for Market Timing [View article]
As bad as this downturn has been for some people, it is very interesting and entertaining to see how/if the various pundits change their tunes.

It always amazes me how long it takes some of these folks to admit their mistakes and move on.

I like the idea of using a technical measure like charts to make decisions because of the objectiveness of it. I have never used it myself but you have peaked my interest. I have always been the researching type. I think a combination of the two might work out best.

    Thanks for the article,
