In other words you agree with Barrons that we're much closer to bottom than top of 14k.

I don't see how you can simply ignore the historical data presented in the Barron's article any more than you could ignore the trends in unemployment or housing affordability going into the downturn. Are we at a bottom, no. But stocks are approaching historical levels of reasonable value compared to the past couple of decades. That should make them a relatively safe investment once the economy improves in another 6-24 months but I wouldn't be looking for a raging bull market as some are suggesting.
