  • Noble Corp. - Credit Health Likely To Remain Robust [View article]
Your NE bonds currently yielding 9 percent were bought by me when they were 7 percent yield. They are part of my buy and hold till maturity diverse portfolio of bonds. I am quite comfortable owning them. The dividend cut was a welcome sight as these yields are the equivalent of single B bonds!

  • Noble Corporation - Commentary On The Third-Quarter Results [View article]
It is 2009 all over again. If you own stocks or bonds in upstream energy or material companies all hope is gone. I am buried in losses in these investments and only diversification has kept me alive. But is this diversification and no leverage that will get me through just like in 09.

  • Freeport-McMoRan Could See A Comeback [View article]
Probably OK to own Fcx debt. Easier to sleep with. Stock could be sideways for 1-2 years. I own Fcx debt and marked to mkt I'm down 15% but I get to sleep easier then the common stock holders. I am staying put.

  • Encana: DJ Basin Asset Sale Keeps The Bull Raging On [View article]
Goldman Sachs has a buy on the stock while they are bearish in energy. Dallas must be seeing same undervaluation.

  • Nabors Industries Is A Sell [View article]
Interesting...earnings you discuss were released on August 4 th.
Next earnings will be on October 25 th I think for their 3 rd quarter. The report was shocking because as I read it I thought this was news.
Furthermore, there is no mention of their 400 million dollar stock buyback!

You should of mentioned that a) this is a review of a past earnings report...b) the stock buyback that further backs up your argument of running out of cash as they buy back stock.

  • No Happy Ending? My Vale Journey [View article]
On August 12 2015 Moody's issued a detailed report that 85 % of vales sales we outside of Brazil and those sales were all in USD. Also, 55 percent of vales assets are in Canada and Indonesia outside of Brazil. In summary vale was , as per Moody's was very insulated from Brazil's macroeconomic problems and should not, and they repeated again, should not be compared to Brazil's country credit risk.

  • Don't Rule Out A Turnaround For Encana [View article]
    Alpha investor
Your in good company with Goldman Sachs. Although they believe crude oil could be a lot lower in the coming months the have issued a buy in ECA. A rare buy call in an industry that Goldman is currently bearish in. I own debt in the company that has more than 10 years to go. It is a position I will hold until maturity.

  • Frontier: Failing On All Cylinders [View article]
    Check out this web site
It helps one have an understanding of the reason the debt is almost untenable. The new frontier debt was rated bb3. It's a hair away from single b!
Single b is in the 6.5 percent default rate within a few years.

It's hard to imagine paying 10 percent interest on a new 6.5 billion and a dividend as well. At best the dividend is zeroed.
At worst the bone holders are left owning the new Frontier common and the current one FTR would be delisted.

  • Stop Buying Vale: You're Trying To Catch A Falling Knife [View article]
Recently Moody's announced that Brazil's government debt was in danger of being downgraded to BB1, and in that same report pointed out that this did not apply to Vale whose debt and sale were all conducted in dollars. So, which is it...Moody's says Vales ok because it not tied to the Real and this report sees it as the opposite? Call me confused!

  • Stay Away From Transocean [View article]
Your report is spot on regarding the difficulty facing Transocean as well as other offshore drillers. I would disagree with stating a numerical PE of 78 going forward. It is better to say there are little of no earnings going forward for the next year or two.

PE is relatively meaningless when there is no E!

I believe in March of 2009 the PE of hundreds of stocks in the S&P were easily north of 78. The way that was dealt with then was when it came to PE of an underlying common stock had the letters NM for there earnings.
NE , as in not meaningful.

Again, it's a great report but PE is not meaningful in heavy industry but very real in stocks like AMZN.

  • Felix Zulauf: Bottom isn't in yet [View news story]
Felix, for those of you that are unaware is part of a large group of pros that make up the Barron's Annual round table discussion. It takes place over a number of issues early in every new year. Each person makes his favorite picks and pans. Most valuable is that all make interest rate, inflation, GDP and s&p predictions. Barron's then, and this is the IMPORTANT part, makes a table of the average concensus amongst the participants which can be a very valuable tool. I've often found it to be quit accurate. Just sayin.

  • Carl Icahn Is Not Necessarily Great For Freeport-McMoRan's Stock [View article]
Someone clearly has a sharper pencil then the myopic momentum traders. Ichan sees value and so does his team. Cramer , 2 days past, was clear that he wasn't taking calls on Chk and Fcx. What a free look!, he was sick of commenting on the bottom fishers picks...missed a 40% move!

Perhaps he needs to sharpen his pencil.

The writer suggests that it may not be good for the common stock. It sure was good for my bonds band the stock.

    Hope Cramer remains
