  • Apple Earnings: What to Expect (And Who Not to Believe) [View article]
PS last month I went even more Old School and bought Puts since I was long at that time, that worked out. If you are long there's nothing wrong with a little protection sometimes, especially on a big positions.
This time I actually was considering sell covered calls, the call prices are mouthwatering with the VIX so high. Yes you lockin your potential gain if the stock heads north, but it's a pretty good gain over 3 weeks, and cushions any fall a long-term investor may take.

"I also tried to point out that investors ought to ignore Kathryn Huberty's estimates and her meaningless downgrades of the stock. In September, she downgraded Apple two weeks in a row causing the stock to drop a cumulative 30 points or about 30% between the two downgrades. I still haven't figured out who is less intelligent: Kathryn Huberty or the irrational investors who continue to listen to anything she has to say."
I guess I'm more of a niave CDN, than somebody with 6 years of self-taught fundemental analysis, but it looks like those irrational investors have saved some old school coin.
Not long or Short, yet....I'm with Shulman on this one...I'll go old school and wait for more details, thanks.

  • Financial Crisis and the Top 5 Handset Stocks  [View article]
Just commented on another article how much I like apple down here, with big cash position to boot. I may have to take a put position for the earning though, as good as they are it's never enough it seems.

  • Five Reasons RIMM Will Continue to Fall  [View article]
NOK, why not use Motorola. Sure the smartphones will mature someday, but it's still a bit early to do this comparision. NOK is suffering because they didn't keep up with Rimm and Apple.

  • Apple, Major Indexes Stuck in Sideways Holding Pattern [View article]
Thanks, everyone loves AAPL so much it hard to find anyone who thinks the chart looks a bit weak, but if we were talking about a financial stock, resistance might be taken more seriously.

  • Steve Jobs: Honesty Is the Best Policy [View article]
I get it, the F word belongs there, you can't change that. It's actually boardroom talk anyway.

You think the hedgies don't use that exact word when they spread there little rumors.

Look I might be wrong, but to me this is time to play it a little bit safer. I hate giving more money to those individuals on wall street, but if I buy an expensive AAPL $2 or $4 Put to cover each 100 shares I hold, then I'm long with insurance (a little wall street protection money). AAPL moves up $10 or $20 and I won't even notice it's gone (to wall street).
    Any comments would be appreciated...

  • Apple Erases All of Post Earnings Losses [View article]
Nothing wrong with USER 163362 selling before earning, I prefer puts, ahead of earnings. With AAPL it's becoming a no brainer. Think of all the shares you would own if you had done that everytime. or you could even invest the proceeds in something else to diversify (the horror).

  • Can Apple Save Tech? (Earnings Come Monday) [View article]
Singh, my spouse did, silly me I've been filling the minivan, the car, and my motorcycle (the only thing I'm allowed to drive). What was I thinking ?
But actually she explained it's one MAC or 3 more PC, and the newest ones have Vista. She had a point. So thanks to Vista I'm going higher than the whisper number that's 1.11 apparently to 1.13 revenues is even harder it depends on cost and there is no inflation number that can be used, unless you use China's (probably more accurate for the USA) 7.63B.

  • Under The Radar News - Wednesday [View article]
Hi, Great News that nobody else is talking about much.

Can you try and shed some light on something I find to be under the radar?
Many Tech companies in the USA are going out of there way to say what percentage of sales are Intenational. Intel I remember as 75%, now I belief it, but, don't those customers like Lenova in China supply back to the markets in the USA ?

Doesn't this whole concept of the World saving the USA leave out the part about everybody is using US dollars from US consumers or should I say US credit accounts?

Cheers, Brian in Montreal and I don't feel any safer up here.
