  • Jamie Dimon will hold a town hall-style meeting with junior bank examiners from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency next week in an effort to "answer all staff inquiries." According to WSJ, the meeting comes on the heels of an earlier meeting with senior examiners during which Dimon was told that "regulators don't trust [the firm's] management" and believe JPM simply "isn't getting the message." Scrutiny seems to be coming to a head (I, II) lately just as Dimon is set to face shareholders this month.  [View news story]

  • More on Microsoft: The WSJ reports the DOJ and SEC are examining allegations from a former Chinese Microsoft rep that he/she was told by a local Microsoft exec to "offer kickbacks to Chinese officials in return for signing off on software contracts." Also being reviewed are allegations resellers offered bribes to score software deals with Romania's communications ministry, and that Italian consultants lavished gifts and trips on procurement officials to win government deals. The probe is said to be in the preliminary stage.  [View news story]
It's ironic that the US government penalizes corporations for bribery by extorting money from them.

  • Avoid Paying Taxes The Warren Buffett Way  [View article]
How about a systematic change where everyone pays less? or a flat tax? Trim the fat - and trim the govt take. Trim the pay of these "elected" representatives whose only purpose was to "serve" the people who they now steal from. People need to stop electing these bozos - forget about Dems/Republicans - how about a real person? Not some puppet...... I digress

  • Keep GE As A Conservative Choice  [View article]
What's comical to me is how it is absurd to consider that GE could be worth more than APPL. I understand the financials make it so however - my point is that 1 little gadget can sell enough to make Apple worth more than GE a global company whose industry reach knows no bounds... tell me again why APPL is a better company? oh that's right they have that little iThingy....

  • Crossroads: Which Direction Is Microsoft Headed?  [View article]
I think w/ Win8/WP8 integration with Xbox will have a big impact on the "hipster" crowd. I know dozens of devout Apple users who all own xboxes - some of whom are now considering the Win8 Ecosystem. That is the way in to the younger generation. Gaming is such a huge industry - if kids can play their xbox games on their phones/pcs as well as the xbox - MSFT could be on to something

Agree with arudnici - I'm 31 married father of 3 - living in MA - trying to build up my portfolio to retire - however the GOP lost me w/ Pro Life rants and Anti-Immigration prop. get with the times or the GOP will be no more.... The voting population is getting younger and this country is becoming more and more progressive or "liberal" if you want to call it that. but my principles outweigh my greed and I could never vote Romney or any GOP candidate at this point.

  • September Nonfarm Payrolls: +114K vs. consensus +115K, +142K previous (revised from 96K). Unemployment rate 7.8% vs. consensus 8.2%, 8.1% previous.  [View news story]
So the last 2 months when it was 8.2 - Let me guess those numbers were accurate and obama was a slouch, now that it drops they are manipulated. you can't have it both ways. So people are only getting part-time jobs - how is that bad? is it better then no employment? Now they have some money to spend albeit less than they would like. Isn't under-employed better then un-employed? Am I stupid for asking these questions? Is a little money better than none? are they not going to be paying taxes, and spending the money they earn? I must be dumb for believing that some is better than none.
