  • Amarin Is A Hold [View article]
Huh? I'll let someone else single out the flaws in your myopic analysis of AMRN. Also, it seems evident that no person can write an article now sans mentioning ARNA -- to use as an example of "look what happened to ARNA, same scenario here." You are rather transparent and clearly you do not have intimate knowledge of ARMN's drug nor its management.

  • Shares of Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA -7.2%) continue Friday's downward trajectory after minutes from the May 10th FDA panel on the company's obesity drug lorcaserin were posted, and don't show the in a favorable light. Many panelists appear to have voted yes, but only reluctantly.  [View news story]
Seriously? Paraphrasing statements made by Adam F. as an outright conclusion is misleading. Did the panelist outright say that they were coerced into voting yes? Where did you obtain these set of facts, as you failed to even place a modifier such as allegedly or purportedly?

  • Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA +6.6%) trades higher amid a bit of overwrought Internet drama. A group of shareholders filed a Cease-and-Desist Letter (.pdf) to TheStreet's Adam Feuerstein after he wrote that the firm's weight-loss drug Lorcaserin "isn't much more than a placebo" and causes tumors in rats. [View news story]
Quite the contrary in my view. Adam does not have intimate knowledge of Arena's drug. In fact, the article he wrote is just plain bias and he makes wide allegations in the article in a matter of fact tone. This was the article I was referring to phemale60 from yesterday. He went far and beyond writing an opinion piece-- anyone reading that article would have thought the FDA spoke straight to Adam and that he sat in ARNA's labs all day and all night.

  • Samsung (SSNLF.PK), unsurprisingly, plans to appeal its harsh legal loss to Apple (AAPL). Apple's response to the jury's verdict: "We applaud the court for finding Samsung’s behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right." Samsung's response: "It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies." Samsung needs to put in the work like Apple did. Apple, like Rome, was not built in one day. I love how Samsung attempt to trivialize infringement by using pervasive objects/descriptions like "rectangles and rounded corners." Well then, how come you did not just opt for triangles, Samsung? Oh, I know, it's much easier to steal someone else's "rectangles" because you can forgo the cost associated with innovative design and research and development.

I'm actually okay with you using my "rectangles", Samsung. But one thing, you have to pay me.

  • "The market can drop 400 today and Apple (AAPL +0.8%) will close up," writes The Fly, who says the action reminds him of Dell in 1998 - going up $3/day while the rest of the market cratered. Eying a chart of his GARP (growth at a reasonable price) index (of which, Apple is a member), he thinks it looks top-heavy and ready to fall.  [View news story]
Virus problem? Clearly that's an exaggeration. Viruses is not something that plague Apple. By the way, Pirota, if you cannot live with your Android, spelling the name correctly is a first step to perhaps seeming more convincing.

I made no claims or suggestions that intellectual property law did not need reforming. My remark solely highlighted the use of language in trying to explain something that is far more complex and arguably esoteric. Clearly, if this trial was a matter of 'shapes' it would not require litigation in such duration. In the meantime, I still find Samsung's rebuttal simple, strategic, and convenient. In all, Samsung needs product differentiation.

  • Henry Blodget sets a target range of $16-$24 for Facebook (FB -11%), based on a valuation of 20x-30x a 2013 EPS estimate of $0.80. Blodget's retort to those bullish due to Facebook's growth potential: Facebook has already been working on monetization for years; Mark Zuckerberg cares more about Facebook's "social mission" than its business; and the company's next billion users, weighted towards emerging markets, will be much less valuable than its first billion. (previous)  [View news story]
Last week I commented in jest that analysts were probably going to downgrade FB after its less than stellar IPO (perception or otherwise) and someone commented that FB already received such a downgrade. Surprisingly, I learned today that Morgan Stanley cut FB estimates right before its launch -- talk about prescient. http://reut.rs/Lnswkc

The timing and source are quite interesting...

  • Wendy's: Why This Fast Casual Turnaround Story Has Insiders Buying [View article]
My boyfriend and I love Wendy's. We call it the healthy alternative to fast food... (ha-ha) aka 100% beef. I love their cheeseburgers ( with no mayo of course) and my beau looooooooves the chili. Before I forget, I love the chocolate frosty as well. Wendy's is our go to place and what makes this amusing is that we are exceedingly health conscious. We love the service there as well. By the way, I am from NY but currently we live in Hawaii -- and Wendy's is well received both places.

  • Sell Arena Pharmaceuticals And Step To The Sidelines [View article]
Claiming to hold shares one minutes, claiming to sell another minute, pretending to be a supporter the next with intense negative undertones, then projecting a neutral stance or cheery disposition the next and only pumps certain stocks. Your subterfuge and fair-weather tendencies does not go unnoticed. You know who you are.

I wish everyone luck in his or her investments. Keep doing your own due diligence. Do not rely on articles alone to make your investing decisions because some articles are impartial, some are marginal, some have faulty premises, and some are outright inflammatory with ill intentions.

    Long $ARNA

  • One of the reasons for Facebook's (FB) less-than-stellar performance today may be due to the fact that the system became so clogged that traders backed away, says CNBC's David Faber. The big mid-day drop - from $40 to $38 - apparently happened because the Nasdaq temporarily stopped taking orders at one point, which created enough uncertainty that traders on many desks stopped trading the shares altogether. The SEC has launched an investigation into the issue. (video)  [View news story]
I was being sarcastic. What an affair. Enjoy your weekend.

Should investors expect the banks to prop FB again to prevent it from going under $38? Also, will analysts come out to downgrade FB on Monday? What an affair.

  • Google (GOOG) is reportedly planning a major overhaul of its Android strategy. Instead of partnering to build a handful of devices via its Nexus line, Google will now partner with up to 5 OEMs at once on hardware sold directly to consumers. Google's objectives: create no-compromise Android gear to better compete with the iPhone (AAPL), limit OS fragmentation, prevent carriers from modifying Android devices for their own ends, and soothe partner fears related to the MMI acquisition. (earlier)  [View news story]
The irony of this move by Google is that most Android users often use their ability to modify their devices as some kind of a defense. Changing strategy midway now? Am I to conclude the existing strategy was not working out too well? Hmmm....

Phemale60, I understand your leanings toward Adam, especially as a fellow Adam follower. I also watched the VVUS webcast and monitored the chat on that notable day. With regard to this specific scenario, I believe Adam's article about Arna was misleading, incomplete, and devoid of solid evidence. Writers will find it must advantageous and fair to allow investors to make their own decisions by writing a balanced piece when possible. Adam opted to dismiss any data or reports that remotely depicted ARNA in a favorable light. As to Adam's intent and motive, I'm indifferent and clueless. Nothing is set in stone for any of these obesity drugs. All we can do is try to make a sound decision. Good luck to us all. $$ :-)
