  • How Charlie Munger Followers Could Have Avoided The Folly At J.C. Penney [View article]
I see nothing wrong with Johnson's plan if he had done it as a gradual evolution of JCP. But he instead opted for nuking JCP existing business plan in favor of something completely different.

One day it was JCP, the next day it was the Apple store selling clothing or a somewhat more upscale Target.

  • Pitney Bowes - Avoid This Dividend Siren [View article]
If PBI raises the dividend by the 4th quarter; they will officially have raised the dividend for another consecutive "year". So you cannot as of now, say they have not raised the dividend for the 31st consecutive year.

If you look back at the history of other dividend aristocrats, this has happened many times.

  • BlackBerry: Making Progress In The U.S. Market [View article]
Whether BB succeeds for fails will not depend on what rumors they leak to people looking to day trade the stock.

When you buy anything, do you actually ponder what rumors are on some obscure stock market webpage at the point of purchase?

"Gee I need to buy more toilet paper. I wonder what Seeking Alpha thinks of Scott Paper vs Kimberly Clark..."

  • J.C. Penney Just Sealed Its Fate [View article]
Is Ullman permanent, or just interim until they find another replacement?

Now having a half finished strategy (Johnson's) is probably worse than giving it another year (which is what the Board just got finished saying a few weeks ago). The sales per sq-ft were substantially higher in the new format.

Now they just have a mess with no direction.

Is there value in any real estate holdings (like with Sears)?

  • Dell: Buy BlackBerry, Stay Public [View article]
I think the Canadian government would say a big no; not to mention Prem Watsa and Mike Lazaridis.

Sadly, if the public does not know the proper name of your product it says something about its popularity.

So where is your article saying the apple was a tool of Satan to seduce Adam; so Apple's products are the work of the Devil and are a problem to the people seduced by them ???

  • Meg Whitman Owns HP Now [View article]
Yes, Meg was one (of many people) in on the Autonomy decision. She was not part of management then; just a part time board member.

But now she is management, and the one who made the decision to have the company come clean about it. Sounds like a leader.

  • Why You Should Accumulate Shares Of BlackBerry [View article]
Wow Edward, you sure are decisive. Your opinion on BB has a range from Out of Business all the way to King of the World. Then you could not even say you would be short without adding the disclaimer "probably".

Safe to say BB will be around for a long time. They have already restructured to a profitable position in a quarter that was almost entirely selling their old hardware and software. They have no debt. Hard to go bankrupt when you do not owe anybody money and you are profitable.

  • BlackBerry: Despite Report, U.K. Sales Look Good [View article]
I am confused. How can Z10 sales in the quarter ending in February have dropped from the previous quarter; when the current quarter was only one month; and the prior quarter the phone was not for sale?

Pretty amazing that sales of a non existent product could decline.

  • BlackBerry: Beginning Of Recovery Or End Of Hope? [View article]
Yeah, didn't Kodak win the camera war 60 years ago against Polaroid; and the film war against Fuji in the 1980s?? End of story........right??

Didn't GM and Ford win the car wars? Those little cheap Japanese cars do not stand a chance...!!!

    Talking movies are dumb.

Which Android OS? There are so many (17 and counting). Jelly Bean; Ice Cream Sandwich; Donut; Cupcake; Crap Sandwich. This is a problem. It makes it hard to make apps, or your old apps might end up being exactly that; old.

How can you be sure of security when so many people are running so many versions? Consumers are not into re-formating and installing a new OS even once; forget about every 6 months.

  • BlackBerry Surprises With Profit Even As Subscriber Loss Deepens [View article]
Subscriber numbers the most important????? These are users of the old BB email and messenger service; which will be phased out eventually when everyone starts using the new BB10 services where there will be no subscribers to count. So I would expect subscribers to be eventually zero.

How do I know this? Because the CEO has been talking about it for 6 months; most recently on Bloomberg after the earnings release.

And where were you while this has been going on?
