  • Armed with DRM-Free Music, Yahoo Would Be a Digital Music Force  [View article]
If QTrax doesn't get it together, Yahoo may have a slight chance at gaining some ground, but it's very doubtful. Video is where it's at now and Yahoo blew that opportunity long ago. Anyway, Apple would only have to alter iTunes slightly to burst this bubble of Yahoo's latest desperate plan. The move raises a good question though. If QTrax cannot legally operate without the all the artists' permission as well as the record companies', how can Yahoo get away with the same thing? Seems they are really big on monetizing content that is not rightfully theirs without getting permission, like how they turned Flickr into a stock photography catalog for use by all their advertising affiliates. Yahoo had better come up with some better plans than this and mobile starting point visions, because neither is going to save that company.

  • What's Ailing eBay and Yahoo? [View article]
One of Yahoo's big issues is an inability to fully monetize a huge asset like Flickr. This is because it is actually full of pornography that most legitimate advertisers would never want their company name to sponsor directly. Yahoo needs to clean up their act and provide social network platforms their advertising clients can utilize. It's sad enough Flickr has been exposing kids to that unlabeled adult content for years now. Yahoo, which supposedly supports the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, should know better than to host thousands of sexual predators and pedophiles like they have so foolishly in the past with their chat rooms. Nobody wants their ads on that stuff. What are they thinking?
