I have invested before without much success. I attribute that to having no plan and thus no luck. I was all about aggressive growth investing and had no plan, I'd just chase the "hot" company/stock. I'm 45 and sadly haven't invested yet for retirement. I feel like I'm still growing up but reality is creeping in and I've got to get serious about planning and investing for my retirement years. My new strategy is to develop a dividend growth portfolio, develop a set of rules, change my mindset, get serious, stick to the plan and don't tinker with it. My mission statement is to develop a dividend growth portfolio that will annually return about as much as I earn now, that I can live on in my retirement years approx. 20-25 years from now at 65-70. I have cash on the sidelines doing me no good that I'll be moving into core positions as value presents itself over the near and long term.
