Coal Stocks: Make Money in Picks and Shovels
Or maybe you think if everyone sells, the stock will drop in price to where you can pick it up cheap again, and make a killing? Sounds like what the analysts do to the financials. Sounds suspicious to me...

Selling the Short Sellers Short: Another Sign of Trouble
I'm confused. If you borrow it, you don't own it. Sounds real simple to me. If you don't own it, you can't sell it. Still simple. If you can't sell it, you can't make money. STILL simple. The rule should be the same for ALL investors, ALL stocks. Keep the gambling in the back room so it only affects yourself, not the rest of us. Makes it less confusing. Maybe less fun, too, but tough stuff.

      FHA: Another Ticking Time Bomb?
Go away stockguy, you're becoming redundant by posting this same statement (and website) on more than one column. Since you're the one stumping for attention, you must be among the 1st oldest profession?

Looks Like Frontline Is Ready for a Rebound
I'm going to hope you're right about the rebound, but with their claim that the price of fuel will require them to slow down, or earnings will be affected, this could indicate a cutback is coming.

Dividend Growth Investing Can Payoff in the Long Run
I agree with reinvesting dividends, and have a rule of my own - always go with 8% yield or higher. If the dividend is small, buy more of the stock, and it will become bigger faster. Admittedly I've been lucky, but my goal is to provide my own retirement fund this way. I'm just a small fish, but I've had some good luck. I agree with the 100 shares thing, too, if you get a good stock early.

Citigroup Analyst: Tough Times Ahead for UBS
Bank A analyst criticizes Bank B. Bank B stock drops. Bank B analyst criticizes Bank C, Bank C stock drops. Bank C analyst criticizes Bank A, and Bank A stock drops. Maybe instead of dropping the stocks, we need to drop the analysts.

Oil at $140/Barrel: Justified or a Bubble?
Cut back, come up with better (affordable!) options, and invest in oil until this 'bubble?' pops. Sincerely, Slave.

Fishing for an Answer: Energy, Energy, Energy
I prefer the oil and natural gas trusts (Canadian - with the foreign tax - and American). The dividends I'm stacking up are more than enough to cover any extra costs I'm expending for fuel for my Toyota. And until they stop, I'll keep going. I started with financials, which did me well for the last several years, until 2007, but by switching much of my funds to investments that are paying ME, I'm coming out ahead.

Google Should Deliver Its YouTube Data to Viacom in Paper Form
At what point do we stop thinking about money and start thinking about responsibility? If the infringer is the peon posting an illegal bit on youtube, the peon should be punished. Why stop because there are so many? The penalties should be collected by the government and all those fines added to the tax collection, reducing the taxes of those of us who are NOT breaking the law. I'm not breaking the law and many others are not breaking it also. Why should WE pay when someone else does? Find the peons, string them up by their testicles and nipples and shake the fines from their pockets. Leave the rest of us alone.

Dividend Stocks: Good News / Bad News
I know people who sold BAC on Meredith Whitney's claims. I didn't. In fact, based on pure animal instinct that perhaps Meredith Whitney was a woman scorned and thus spewing her fury, I bought more. And wasn't it a pleasant surprise that I gained? Perhaps I should buy more, just out of spite. Ms. Whitney may be an intelligent woman but I'm following that scent of cash.

Southern Copper's Stock Split Doesn't Hurt Its Fundamentals One Bit
Number of shares will triple but the total value will remain the same. The stock is going up, and it does provide a nice dividend. I haven't checked FCX lately, but my guess is that it doesn't have as nice a dividend.

      Financials Must Come Completely Clean
The real truth is that it wasn't just the banks that screwed things up. The arrests, as stated in Bloomberg.com today: "Among those indicted were real-estate agents, lawyers, appraisers and borrowers." SEE???? BORROWERS too. So let's just be honest for a change.

Penn West Energy Distributes High Income Rate to Shareholders
I have it, I love it, and I've got others too. It's paying me more in dividends than I'm spending in gasoline, every month. And when I retire, if it's still going, I'll just take the dividends to add to my social security. (Somehow, I think social security will be gone before the oil trusts die... "someone" will borrow from Soc Sec to pay for welfare or illegal immigrants, or some such idiocy.)
