    Buckoux, "when it serves Wash. DC or Wall St., it is just as dangerous as ..." right on. Glad to see so many who have not forgotten how we got into this crisis and crunch. The crunch will play out slowly as the dollars continues to sink and import prices rise. Decades ago Jamica woke up its population with a far reaching ban on imports. Brazil just stopped using oil.

    Tinkering with our banking system ain't gonna do it.

    For Wally Jr, the 15 % canadian withholding is not a deduction on your tax return, but a tax credit; that means for each dollar withheld by Canada, one dollar is subtracted from what you owe Uncle Sam. So it is just as valuable as getting the full amount of the dividend.

    Good article, but I have to agree with the two cautionary dcomments above. I fear another, more severe, bear before we are finally in balance. New jobs, working toward energy independence and rebuilding the infrastructure will blossom when Bush is gone, so there is hope in the future.
