Oh Canada: Top 15 Oil Exporting Countries to the U.S.

Donald Ingram's comment is very misleading.
The " envieronmental lobby" is invisible to this writer who monitors the Sierra Club and related issues. The oils sands make up a huge reserve, and production, which is very expensive, goes into a pipeline to Vancouver. I believe it goes to China, which paid for the pipeline. (Perhaps someone else is more up to date on this issue. ) Anyway, to say that the oil sands are a major part of Canadian oil production is ridiculous. No, just plain stupid.
The point worth remembering is that the Canadian oil sands alone have greater reserves than Saudi Arabia, which should tell you something about how our policy is made. Likewise, the oil shale along the US-Canadian border, which is being actively drilled, is an enormous field. In short, alternative energy forms, which are limitless, and our own oil/natural gas production can free us from middle eastern, Russian, and African oil soon, and ultimately, forever. Why support countries which hate us?
