  • Exxon Could Be the Answer to America's Energy Problems [View article]
FOR ALL YOU NAY-SAYERS - the answer is NOT with Exxon-Mobil - with management and technology all tied to the past.

There are PLENTY of innovators just begging to be recognized. For a few: http://www.algenol.com (not yet publicly traded and financed by Obama + Reliance Industries); Origin Oil (OOIL); Solazyme (SZYM). Algae-tec in Australia (ALGXY) ! The technology and methods are improving constantly -

And - it wil be here - with the Manhattan Project of 2012 (this one point I agree with the author about - a massive kick in the ass by bookoo Fed bucks - by cutting off all big oil subsidies that are presently going to companies making BILLIONS of profits and killing the environment between CO2 and fracking! Frick, frack, fruck - they should be out of luck!

Since when did Goliath ever commit suicide before taking on David? To be sure these are Davids - armed with slingshots for now!

  • The American Petroleum Institute sues the EPA against what it calls an “unworkable” mandate to blend 1.28B gallons of biodiesel into diesel fuels starting in January, raising the volume of biofuel blended into diesel fuel by nearly 30%. The trade group says the mandate could raise the costs of making diesel fuel and should be scaled back. [View news story]
Are the allegations from the APA to be relied upon, or discounted as self-serving because they do not control biodiesel output and its profits?

  • A judge has to decide how much Microsoft (MSFT) should pay for the use of Google (GOOG) wireless and video patents following the end of a week-long trial yesterday. Google wants $4B a year, although Microsoft reckons that $1M+ is all that Google deserves. A small verdict would weaken the Californian company's position in negotiating deals with other rivals. [View news story]
    Now about $333M/year?

  • Backers of liquefied natural gas launch the first major campaign to press lawmakers to allow the export of more U.S. gas, Reuters reports, making the case that selling surplus natural gas to foreign countries will yield strong economic benefits and not drastically raise prices. But the dash for gas holds risks: Apache (APA) blazed a trail in the move to ship LNG to Asia, but its plans are now in limbo as competitors pile in. [View news story]

Charge an export tax of 10% of the aggregate contract price, payable to the US Treasury to reduce the Federal deficit - and with the contract terms subject to annual review and adjustment. America and its people first - then come corporations! People do not exist to enrich business - business existst to enrich the lives of the citizens of the world. And that is not socialism or communism - just common sense that we are all in this together - for better or for worse.

  • Potential Opportunities In Algae Biofuels [View instapost]
I hold positions in both of these - not big enough to effect market prices by my buying or selling - and I also notice they have paid short shrift to a 3rd player in Australia - symbol: ALGXY [Algae.tec] where I also hold a small stake. There is a 4th on the horizon - still private - Algenol - down in Ft. Myers FL area that has potential to me - it has received $25million from Obama in 2009 and has potential marketing support from Valero and it has its own unique patented system of ethanol from algae - using seawater and sunlight!

  • Valero Energy: Hurricane Insurance For Your Portfolio? [View article]
Valero has a sub that has a working deal - silently going on with Algenol - making ethanol directly from algae using solar/sunlight and ocean water! This could be a game-changer for them if they havde first rights to buy up patented rights of this private company. I will likely be taking a postion in VLO on this assumption of a competitive edge.
