(anyone know if tensions between Georgia and Russia have been an ongoing thing making this conflict inevitable? if so, then no black swan).
Can't you google, or wiki before writing pearls of wisdom. This is a long-standing conflict, hardly a black swan. Also, all tied up in oil pipeline politics surrounding Caspian oil. Pundits should do their homework !
Rick Rule: Market Malaise Signals Opportunity in Miners [View article]
Why would I "nibble" before a junior bottoms? especially if there will be little competition to buy quality juniors? Right now ALL juniors are in a funk, in all of the 5 categories I have defined - 3 of which don't depend upon access to capital markets. The best individual juniors in all categories have yet to find a bottom.
Will There Be a Bidding War for Aurelian Resources? [View article]
The draft mining law (which I read in Spanish) looks reasonable. Aurelian is worth about $20/share I believe. Why would their board accept an offer now worth $6.30? Why didn't they say: "thanks for the offer, but it's a STINK bid"? It's the biggest and best gold discovery worldwide in at least 10 years.
Shareholders, write the company and the Ontario Securities Commission (as I have.) This is highway robbery by a board that is at least STUPID and at best acting against shareholder interests!

More big deposits: Seabridge, NovaGold, Crystallex, Gold Reserve (the latter 2 in the sights of Rusoro) Don't these deserve mention alongside Aurelian's?
Junior Mining Companies Primed for Big Gains [View article]
40% of the companies in the CDNX are oil & gas, and therefore not relevant to the author's points on junior mining explorationcompanies. They have a different dynamic in the marketplace.
both KRY's and GRZ's press releases make them sound like total outsiders to the process. To succeed in a political environment like VZ, you have to have high touch with the key officials who determine your fate. I won't be surprised if both Las Brisas and Las Cristinas end up in a JV with Rusoro (RML.V) owned and operated by Russians, which already bought out Goldfields and Hecla's properties in Bolivar State. Rusoro could be a stalking horse for Russia's Peter Hambros (who just loaned Rusoro $80M) or Polyus ...

Analysts Mixed on Mining Risk in Ecuador [View article]
There are differences between Ecuador and Venezuela:
1. Ecuador is poor, lacks VZ's oil, and needs economic development. 2. Pres. Correa has a Phd in economics from U. of Illinois, Urbana - while Chavez did not attend university, and had an entirely military career. Chavez thinks command and control; while Correa is critical of Wall St., he knows economics. 3. Extractive industries are controversial in Ecuador; although mining is new, Texaco and other oil companies caused major public health and environmental damage in Ecuador.
Sure, Correa has to ride herd on a raucus political process, but at the end of the day, I think western miners who can "dance with the music" will find happiness in Ecuador.
I'd expect a multiple from a silver stock on the silver price increase only where investors expect the company will prove up more ounces in future than those current 43-101 compliant resources.

Aurelian and Corriente Shares Down as Equador Suspends Mining Exploration [View article]
Ecuador (that's how it's spelled, btw) has suffered massive public health and environmental problems from Texaco and successor oil operations.
Don't they have a right to decide how and when they allow large-scale mining to begin? -
BTW, I have a position in Aurelian, and feel the current pain !
