  • Amazon and eBay in Satisfaction Survey [View article]
I totally agree with the previous 2 comments. I used to go look on E*Bay for just about everything that I wanted to buy online ... and usually found something that was competitive or better priced than I could find it on a online retailer. I've stopped this entirely for about the last year or so becasue I never find what I want on E*Bay anymore. I think this is becasue there has been a big drop off of sellers and goods due to the messed up business practices of E*Bay. It's both sad and ridiculous.

  • Is Netflix the Next Apple? [View article]
I won't touch your EBAY comments with a 10 foot pole (their margins will not keep them in business with their current business trajectory). Too much has been said on this topic elsewhere.

But come on man, if you want to be taken seriousely don't misspell names of common technologies like "Blue Ray". FOMCL. (hint: Blu-ray).

  • Murdoch Biographer Disses MySpace [View article]
Although he got some of his research facts wrong, I have to agree with him that MySpace is currently a social wasteland with a population of zombies and predators. The one exception to this generalization is the music crowd. MySpace remains a platform for new and emerging artists to connect with their fans ... however there are more evolved platforms today that are better in a lot of respects.

Whatever wrongs there in Stross' article, he does have some good insights.

  • Can DivX’s Safe Harbor Protect It from Stage6 Pirates? [View article]
As can be seen on the home page of stage6 (stage6.com) the service is gone, gone, gone baby.

The nice, friendly note from Spinner explains it was just too costly to continue to operate the service. Although that is obviously true, I believe the real reason is discussed in this article: the Music Industry has good lawyers, and they use 'em to squash innovation. That's why DivX is getting out. That's why DivX couldn't "spin off" the business (who wants to buy it with the attached operating costs and a whammo of a pending lawsuit?).

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming ...
