Don't Overlook Amazon's Web Services Business
From your post: "That other line, which includes Amazon’s Web services...". What else does it include? What if, of the $326 million other revenue from 2007, only $75 million came from AWS? If so, it generated less than one-half of one percent to their total revenue. Even if AWS is all of the the $326 million, that is just 2%. And what is the cost to Amazon to develop and maintain AWS? I would need to see clearer numbers on both the cost and return of AWS before I would label AWS "the future of Amazon".

Time Warner's Restructuring - Leverage the Synergies
Your close, but you are missing the fact that AOL is three different companies that should go their separate ways. They have Advertising (Platform A), Access (the dying dial-up business), and Web Services (publishing - the business that you address). I agree with you that both Time Inc. and AOL Web Services would benefit from a merger. But that should take place after they spin Platform A out as its own business and sell off the access business for scrap.
