  • Can Apple Stop the Android? [View article]
The mobile war is just in the second inning. There is also Blackberry, Nokia and dark horse called Palm. Microsoft attained its dominance in a non-internet world. The new OS is actually the internet. Apps will run on the internet - with the phone only one of the myriad devices accessing the internet. Google dominates the internet and thus in my opinion is the natural favorite for now.

  • Cramer's Mad Money - The Ultimate Stealth Rolling Bull Market (11/10/09) [View article]
Actually Cramer's advise is sound. JNJ is dead money for the next 3 years as it will struggle to maintain earnings due to patent expiries and lack of near term pipeline in pharma and medical devices. Their consumer group is doing well but cannot makeup for overall weakness.

  • Cramer's Mad Money - The Correction Is upon Us (10/28/09) [View article]
The decline has not yet broken the trend line, so it is a bit early to panic.

  • How Retail Investors Might Play Julian Robertson's Ideas [View article]
A play on interest rates is buying a stock like Annaly (NLY). It has been a good investment for me as its a it borrows money short term to buy long term agency mortgages. It it leveraged around 8 times. It is basically a yield curve play as it take interest rate risk but no credit risks as it deals exclusively with agency guaranteed mortgages.
I plan to sell when the yield curve starts to flatten out.

  • Global Markets in Review: More Thoughts on This Rally [View article]
Financial markets are at least 50% irrational, so there is no point psychoanalyzing it. A decision has been made collectively by the G-20 to re-inflate asset prices. Quantitative easing or pump priming whatever you call it - is working. If necessary the Fed is prepared to go to negative interest rates (manufacture inflation) to fight asset deflation. So holding cash is going to cost investors.

  • 40 Stocks That Have Defied the Downturn [View article]
You missed some big daddy's WMT and MCD come to mind. I agree with the previous post that these are unlikely to go up much and if you think things are going to improve its better to rotate into cyclical sectors.

  • Dividend Paying Stocks: You Only Have to Be Lucky Once [View article]
A lot of financials payed very good dividend - Freddie, Fannie, Wamu, Wachvia, Citi, AIG.

Also look at Intel and Microsoft - both are paying healthy dividends while in 2000 did not payout anything.

Berkshire does not pay a dividend.
