  • PHEVs and EVs: Plugging into a Lump of Coal [View article]
Clearly, many here are tempted to stray from "Seeking Alpha" to "Seeking Psi." At times it looks like we're poaching in the 'precognition' preserve of an ESP seminar. 'Sexy science' is great for an IPO but not so great as an investment that has already soared to an unsustainable premium.

  • Are Energy Storage Investors Chasing Their Own Tails? [View article]
It's human nature to fixate on an aspect of the model of a problem. If you don't come to a personal understanding of a problem you cannot address it. Fortunately, a diversity of informed investigation is evident in all these approaches. The constraints of time and place affect all our personal motivations. Let a thousand ....

I'm not sure what is accomplished by misquoting or quoting out of context from your posts or from others contained in this very same thread. Most of us will re-read the post referenced, not merely taking the 'quoter's' reprise. It's as if some folks are playing a game of solitary rhetorical strawman destruction derby.

Are the alternatives "build it and they will come" or "legislate it and it will appear?" Who cares? Trade the enthusiasm as it waxes and wanes.

  • Why Pure Play Energy Storage Companies Could Double for Investors [View article]
Those enterprises involved in 'consulting' the potential beneficiaries and grantors of this largesse appear to be well into the fat. Any public plays there?

"..will follow ...result in huge capital outlays for feel-good facilities that have no economic value or enduring benefit." Even with rational subsidies that dismaying outcome is a given.

Loren Rogers is a transparent trolling fool. Why waste electrons, thankfully not trees, with this nonesense?

  • Lead-Carbon: A Game Changer for Alternative Energy Storage [View article]
Clearly, the payoff, assuming developmental and production advances that don't require substantial dilution, rests with a very senior partner, if not with a purchaser to fund significant production, distribution and marketing.

  • Alternative Energy Storage for Global Warming Agnostics [View article]
I wouldn't place any bets on what the new administration and congress will do based on the campaign rhetoric. Getting attention and elected has little to do with actually meeting the priorities imposed by reality when you are no longer in the proposing mode but are now in the disposing mode.

  • Alternative Energy Storage Is an Investment Tsunami [View article]
Don't know if JPs posit of an either/or trade off in transportation modes is accurate but the underlying assault on our sense of entitlement hubris is on point. Even if most, if not all, modes of energy production/harvesting, storage, distribution and final user options are employed they will require a retrenchment of our expectations for the status quo in our relative profligacy. This is not a call for hair shirts, however, just for a broader view of future demand and supply.

  • Alternative Energy Storage: Lithium, Lead or Both? [View article]
Most visitors here are interested in the market and, thus, supply and demand. Focusing on supply, we all view any statement about availability of capital or materials or scalable innovative concepts with reservation. Only over the last 50 or so years have the notions of finitude and residual toxicity become paramount. The 'true' costs of these supplies and their employment are more important than ever and subject to assertions of varying credibility. A lot of what can be done economically cannot be accommodated economically.
