  • The Too Big to Fail, Too Big to Exist Act of 2009 [View article]
Don't see how Citibank could've ever been seriously considered as a 'refuge' for Wachovia or Merrill Lynch or any other entity. B of A, aka NationsBank et al, foolishly aspired to the failed Citibank ambition to be the bloated 'Empire of Capital'. The only plausibly rational move was Wells Fargo's acquisition of Wachovia. The main reason for the 'passive aggressive' regulatory posturing relates to off balance sheet liabilities that would boggle the mind.

"..besides what the President of the United States likes best." No kidding. I'm not letting my currently affronted ideological leanings be leveraged by some of the Chicken Littles out there in the economic and political barnyard. Don't let the posturing of those whose bread and butter is the marketing of an 'attitude' sway cool investment judgement. Investment is intended to generate a return and not to make a 'statement'.

"If the TARP Preferred assets are converted to common shares, doesn't that mean a huge dilution for existing share holders? Why would the existing common shares rally in that event?"

  • Why I'm Buying Morgan Stanley China A-Share Fund [View article]
You are paying a premium to access a local market that is at a premium to reality. Don't see the point unless I had high confidence in the management's trading ability as it swaps horses.

Truly silly tone here. This reads more like a TMZ report than financial commentary.

  • Cramer's Mad Money - Obama's Revenge (3/5/09) [View article]
Perfection is the nemesis of success. Didn't vote for Obama and not likely to but wish success for him to the extent the economy can be revived. However, fear Pelosi et al view this emergency as an opportunity to cram 'progressive', as in irrelevant if not counter-productive, policies down our throats.

  • Preview from Europe: Stocks Hold Up While Waiting on Obamulus [View article]
Clearly, the range of earnings estimates reflect the discretionary aspects of bank accounting that have always existed. These ranges likely rest on the analysts' guess of when the bank in question will meld any portion of the cards in their hand.

contrariwise, meet user 182544. All markets are human mechanisms and are, thus, subject to mendacity, fear, greed, complacency and hubris; as well as transitory 'epiphanies'. These epiphanies are called rallies and corrections.
