Chris - perhaps before you shit out an article, it would be advisable to read even a sliver of the SEC filing on the merger, or maybe just 1 of the countless articles that mentioned the term fee going from CW to BOA. Or perhaps you could do us all a favor and not write about stocks, since you're clearly out of your element.

BofA's Countrywide Purchase is a Huge Mistake

Man, I bet Ken Lewis is kicking himself right now, wishing the meathead that wrote this article had been involved in the due diligence that went into greenlighting the deal. It's amazing that the 60 folks Lewis sent to Calabasas didn't have the requisite info that this genius posted on a group blog.

By the way, this is the same guy who said on CNBC that the DOW would be at 9975 by December of 2007. How'd that turn out?

BofA Will Lose Billions in Countrywide Deal

Is this a serious article? Why am I reading the ramblings of some dolt with less knowledge of basic economics on a community blog? It would be a far better use of my time to take ice picks to my eyes and then skull punch myself for the rest of the night.

Now I get it. This is a poor man's "Motley Fool". I'll be sure to ignore the rss feed on Yahoo Finance. Thanks

Wells Fargo (WFC) will become the largest U.S. bank by branches with its bid for Wachovia (WB), after Citigroup (C) withdrew from compromise negotiations late yesterday on concerns about the quality of some of Wachovia's assets. Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought. Government considers next steps. As the financial crisis continues to worsen, the U.S. government is considering two dramatic steps to turn around, or at least slow, the damage: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits. The moves, which would mark the government's most extensive intervention to date, are in discussion stages only. Credit stays frozen. As frozen credit markets refuse to thaw, the cost of default protection on corporate bonds reaches new global records amid investor concerns the credit crisis will trigger corporate failures as companies struggle to finance their businesses. Interbank lending remains limited, and borrowing from the Fed's expanded discount window continued its trend of setting new highs every week, as the total daily average rose to $420.2B vs. $367.8B last week.
