  • Countrywide: California Piles On [View article]
Yeah, jjason, because all the consumers of those loans were ethical when they overstated their incomes and assets to help qualify for more money to keep up with their neighbor's houses, boats and fancy cars. My point is that it's not just Countrywide's fault, it's a lot of people's fault. Countrywide is being used as a scapegoat since they're on their way out of business and into B of A's care.

  • Illiinois - Countrywide: Potentially Devastating [View article]
First off, Warrior, save it. Secondly, Lisa Madigan is a publicity whore who has no real basis for her lawsuit. Countrywide isn't the devil here. Countrywide was turning down customers who ended up with NovaStar, New Century and Ameriquest. Oh wait... they're all out of business now. I guess Countrywide is the only lender who offered subprime left out there to take target practice on. I love seeing Countrywide referred to as a "subprime lender". Countrywide's subprime lending was less than 10% of its total originations annually. They are by no means a "subprime lender" like the others mentioned above. They are a scapegoat for all the other true causes of our country's financial woes (consumer greed, poor regulation, incompetent securities and credit rating agencies).

I pray that a judge throws the frivilous state lawsuits out the window. Unfortunately, some chump judge will want the publicity for punishing this "evil entity" and will help vilify them. What a joke....

Jerry Brown is an idiot. So are the AGs of the states of Washington and Illinois. Unfortunately, some whacko judge who needs public sympathy for re-election will help them unjustly punish a company who followed loose guidelines within a poorly regulated industry. Heaven knows that none of those people were intelligent enough to understand an escrow officer telling them their rate would adjust as they signed hundreds of documents during the hour long process of closing their loan(s). It's all Countrywide's fault...

The funny thing is this coming as a shock to anyone. Politicians have been getting greased by big business since this country was founded. That's capitalism at its finest...

  • Countrywide CEO Finds Struggling Homeowners “Disgusting” [View article]
    Ryan,

Nice sophomoric answer "SO WHAT". Obviously Mozilo feels like a lot of us; that we're tired of the 'woe is me' attitude out there. People got themselves in over their heads as much as Countrywide did. If they weren't saavy enough to understand the documents they signed, then BOO HOO to them. Caveat emptor; the keystone of capitalism...

  • Countrywide CEO Finds Struggling Homeowners “Disgusting” [View article]
    Ryan,

You sir, need to learn to read better. Mozilo's comments were that pieces of the letters he has been inundated with all have the similar/same text from consumer advocacy websites' form letters and credit counsellors. If you need anything else interpreted, please let me know. I know these tricky articles are hard for some people to understand. And I'll leave the spewing to your wife...

  • Countrywide CEO Finds Struggling Homeowners “Disgusting” [View article]
The headline of this worthless article is just like most of the others published; a twist of the words in Mozilo's e-mail. He never said he found struggling borrowers disgusting. What he found disgusting is the use a form letter that doesn't properly explain the customer's needs and current status. I am no fan of Mozilo but am tired of the press preying on the words of every executive out there who actually has an opinion.

  • Countrywide Worthless [View article]
Was there a point to this "article"? I am not sure what the purpose of it is, other than to Countrywide bash like the rest of the print media. If you have nothing cogent to say, then don't say anything at all...

  • BofA/Countrywide Merger Arbitrage Opportunity  [View article]
Of course Kurt, it's all Countrywide's fault right? Not the idiots who got these type of loans and are irresponsible with them. Next, we'll be blaming Anheuser Busch for alcoholism and GM for auto deaths. WHATEVER! When is the general public going to see this as an issue of personal responsibility??? If you borrow money, you need to pay it back, it's as simple as that. If you got in over your head, that is your fault, not the lender. The fact that everybody thinks they're entitled to be bailed out for poor decision making makes me laugh. No wonder our country is in such a mess. Hey, amybe I'll go run up a huge tab in Vegas and let the gov't know they need to bail me out because those darn casinos offer gambling... WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

  • Turning a Costly Blind Eye to Mortgage Speculators [View article]
I'm glad to see some press on one of the biggest instigators in this mess. I've had people say, "Why are you so heartless about people who are losing their homes?", but the truth is, I have no sympathy for the speculators who were greedy and lost on their gamble. The idea that any of these folks could be "bailed out" by the government assistant programs makes me sick. While I still don't really gush over the people who have an "Owner Occupied" property and are struggling to keep up with their rate adjustment, at least they were just trying to own a home, not speculate and perpetuate greed. Thanks for the insightful article.

  • Some Subprime Mortgage Loans Are Actually Current [View article]
Our whole market seems to be based on baseless speculation. Rumors of this or that can make the market plumment or jump in significant fashion. It's only when you dig into the facts that you see the sky isn't quite falling yet. Thanks, Tom, for a common sense article for once. It's nice to see some poeple out there are looking at the facts...

  • Countrywide and Chase Shut Off the Cash Spigot [View article]
Hopefully anybody with half a brain would regard this move as slightly proactive and responsible lending. Although I'm sure both Countrywide and Chase have their own self-interest at heart, the move does force customers to not "get in over their heads", so to speak. Cheers for them being proactive for once instead of sitting back letting people dig themselves into holes they cannot climb out of.
