@abig "longs are banking on BBRY phones in India and West Africa "
And your point is? Is a phone sale in one country different than a phone sale in another? Does it count less or make less profit? Your not related to Archie Bunker are you?

@bjn "The point of investing is to make money. Compare your investment in AAPL so far this year to what you could have made investing in BBRY. Now do you see.

  • BlackBerry: India Import Data Appears To Show Z Phone Imports Doubling In June [View article]
@David So "what do you mean by double? "
It's easy to find out. I want to the ZAUBA web site. Typed in Blackberry Z3 and it shows that BBRY imported aprox 13460 between June 21 and July 1.
then I typed in Blackberry z10 and it showed they brought in aprox 6500 between June 11 and June 30. Q5 = 830 in June. So to me that shows that the Z3 will at least double BBRY sales in India. Over 13400 imported in 11 days compared to 7300+ over a 20 plus day period. As a comparison I added Apple iphone 5 as well. From June 20 to June 30 they imported 8212.

  • BlackBerry's Short Squeeze Just Starting [View article]
@RJ If this was twenty years ago, I might agree with you. But in the last few years, companies have gotten so big that to use some of the billions they have in the bank to manipulate the stock of a small company for what ever reason is a very likely possibility. Maybe the SEC needs to update their regulations on shorting to 21st Century.

@James it's my understanding that licenses for patient are based on a per unit bases. If I understand correctly that would mean that the cost to each company per phone would be the same. Do you have facts about this case that it is a flat dollar amount license a day not a unit license?

  • Momentum Is On The Side Of BlackBerry, Profit-Taking Will Not Slow It Down [View article]
On the CNBC video I just saw they were saying that short interest was going up not down. If this is true and if I believed in conspiracies I might think that someone was trying to keep the SP from rising to high to fast. Of course every one knows you can't believe anything they say on CNBC

  • BlackBerry: Passport's Rave Reviews Cause Short Squeeze [View article]
@User "If the Passport is designed to attract people like me I'd say it's unlikely to work."
I believe the passport was designed for the medical profession as well as other businesses. Although it will be sold to consumers as well, that is not the market it is aimed at.

@Bobberry1 I'll bet the farm that when the next short report is released, we'll see a drastic decrease in shares that are shorted.
Although I hope your right, my feel is that the next short report will show short interest up by 25% or more. I hope I'm wrong.

I would take this as meaning absolutely nothing to BBRY. All cell phone manufactures will have to pay this, so the playing field remains level. Look at it like screens for phones. All phones need them, so every company builds it into the price of there phones.

  • BlackBerry Is Going To $10.50, Z3 Is Launching In More Countries [View article]
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the disappearance or lower number of negative articles on BBRY since they announced BlackBerry fact check? It's about time that they did something to curb the BS.

@MKIA "One of the Fire OS features is "platform enhancements to integrate Amazon's digital content and improve performance."
This suggests to us that BlackBerry's that want (need) Amazon music and video content will be at a disadvantage since they won't have this Fire OS feature."
If this is true than would everyone else who has a non-Fire OS phone, also be in the same boat. It would also mean that Amazon would have to have 2 versions of every song/movie. One for each group. To me this means that BBRY is at no more a disadvantage than anyone else. Now as others have said if 10.3 is coded to take advantage of these features they have a leg up on everyone else.

@marcap "Yes, but there is a big difference between discounting a phone after you have sold tens of millions of them, and discounting a phone before you have sold hardly any. The 1st is a sign of a huge success, whereas the 2nd is a sign of nothing but desperation. The 1st applies to Samsung, whereas the 2nd applies to Blackberry"
Now that statement shows me you never ran a retail store. The 1st only shows you have a bigger share of the market, not that it's a huge success. Let me explain it to you this way now that summer is here. Vanilla ice cream has 30 percent of the market is way more popular than bubble gum 2 percent of the market. If the makers of bubble gum ice cream estimate their sales will go up 1 percent and they do, and vanilla estimates there sales will go up 3 percent and instead they go down. Your saying vanilla is a success and Bubble gum is a failure.
I'm saying it's relevant to your position in the market, not your current market share.

  • BlackBerry: Back Up The Bus; I'm Buying More [View article]
JC said when he introduced the phone that it was for doctors to view xrays. He has also said that BBRY is going after the business market. So no it's not built for you to watch netflix. Now if your a doctor and want to look at something else besides xrays, that's up to you. But work before pleasure.

Darn, and I told JC he should check with you first. But I guess that just JC. He went ahead and built one for doctors to use to consult on xrays of all things. Maybe he figured that since Apple and Samy have the consumer market all sewn up, he should just provide what business want. Do ya think.
