Mr, Apollaro is the Managing Member and Portfolio Manager for Varsity Asset Management where he selects securities for purchase and constructs portfolios for institutional and individual investors. Since the early 1990s, Mr. Apollaro has focused his work in various areas of finance such as advising corporations on mergers & acquisitions, investing in public securities and private entities, financing various businesses and real estate projects, managing assets and teaching finance at Rice University. In his role as investment principal, Mr. Apollaro, over his career, has led the deployment of over $700 million of capital (in both private and public securities) and managed entities with annual revenues as high as $40 million and annual operating expenses of $17 million. Mr. Apollaro's espouses a disciplined, patient, "value" based investment approach as taught and implemented by Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffet, and R. Ted Weschler. Mr. Apollaro received his BA in Political Science / Economics from Columbia College at Columbia University in the City of New York. While at Columbia Mr. Apollaro was a four time letter winner on the Division I baseball team and captained the team to the Lou Gehrig Division Title his senior year. He has been a corporate officer and board member of nine different private and public companies and currently serves on the Board of The Brent Woodall Foundation for Exceptional Children and Get In The Box, Inc.
