iPhone Can Replace Laptops for Majority of Computer Users [View article]
i see your point however I think it's a little early to call the iphone a replacement for laptop... i remember when people used to say that laptops will never replace desktops and soon laptops will outsell desktops.. I am saying it's early for the iphone to be the laptop killer but this is the first step to a more advanced device that will definitely and seriously compete with laptops.. the screen is the only limitation
JPU.. "Competition brings out innovation and creativity" really ?? sorry but in the cell phone market what innovation have you seen before the iphone came out ??? a bigger camera and thinner phone ?? is that all ? And it's not that there wasn't competition before Apple entered the market.. the same thing that happened with PCs years of cheap junk and no innovation, the only exciting thing in the PC industry is coming from Apple since the Apple II
JPU .. the Iphone is not selling well in Asia because no one carries it .. LOL to make dumb comments like that at least wait until there is a carrier selling it in the stores in Asia then you can come back and blabber..

I am just curious to know what this security hole is, what are the consequences because talking about security holes about a device not even announced seems a bit paranoid to me

16 to 18 mil is my mark for 08, 10 mil is not reasonable anymore and most likely it will blow past the 18 mil depending on the new 3g iphone and if hey will introduce lower cost models we are talking at a possible 45-65 mil in 09

I don't get it, how can a company like RIMM with a single product line(smart phones) be worth $165 ?? in about a year Apple has reached almost the same market hare as RIMM and it's their first attempt , if I was a RIMM exec I would be very very worried

"PC guys are not going to just figure this out. They're not going to just walk in.''
LOL what a moron.. more so considering there would be no Palm or Graffiti without Apple , Palm was started by an ex Apple employee and the Newton/emate had all the Palm features (more actually) including the graffiti recognition software LOL I can't stop laughing about these corporate morons ... Although I am sympathetic with Palm because they always supported the Mac , it's because of people like Ed Colligan they are in the shit not because Apple or Rimm have a better product. They had years to come up with a new device but when CEO's gets cocky about their product that's where they end up.. in the crapper Rimm is doing the same thing , feeling confident Apple can't touch their precious corporate market , let's just wait and see
Wanted, Dead or Alive: The iPhone Killer [View article]
I think the only killer of the original iPhone will be the next version of the iPhone..
from what I see out there it looks like even the coolest smart phone is nothing but a mediocre clone of Apple's iPhone minus the user experience from the OS. Cell phone companies are not used to innovate at this level, al they did in the past to "innovate" was to offer more megapixel in the phone camera and a newer design . In terms of functionality today's cell phones are not much different than the phones from the 80's, in almost 30 years all they added is a camera and a keyboard

You sound like my dead g-mother.. I could not do business without my phone so I think for me it's indispensable... but I guarantee you it doesn't own me
on top of that, teens that used to be ok with a basic cell/mp3 player /camera phone are now looking for something more thanks to Apple for raising the bar. Motorola is the first victim, Palm and RIMM are 2 companies that are better positioned to compete and profit from this situation. Even though Palm is in big troubles they can come out of the slump by introducing new low cost models
