Online Music Will Not Replace Satellite Radio [View article]
Lets see.........I did the right thing by finally purchasing the lifetime subscription to SXM. The way I looked at it was I have been a sub for 2 years and well, it would add up to a lot of money even at my age. So at 59, I took the plunge. If I live to 78, probably not but, thats 6,935 days (yikes) divided into $399.00. which is .0575342 per day. What a bargin and a reason to stay alive!
My experience on the iPhone is Pandora is just OK. I listen to it once and a while at the gym and frankly its typicall AT&T dropped service stuff. So, I take a break and pull out the phone and "cue" it back up again. Thats not to mention the programming is limited, right? Hey, SXM has so much content, I have yet to hear most of it. When I am in my car off on a long drive, I sometimes get tired of Watercolors so I switch over to Blue Neck comedy, or over to Howard, or to CNN or Sports.
Finally, and worth noting, I have a older Starmate that works just fine. I have a computer "Altec Lansing" sound system, a Radio Shack transformer, and a outdoor antenna. I take this stuff in a cardboard box when I am on the road and presto, SXM right there entertaining me. Try to go up in the mountains at 7000 ft. and get cell service, really, good luck!
Brandon, thanks for the positive views on SXM, you know like us, we have a winner here and the real big stuff, not just what SXM comes up with but Liberty too promises to be exciting goodies!
New Sirius Channel Line-ups Cause Stir [View article]
The need to merge the contents (channels) is pretty obvious to you, right? The music is the same guys, SXM will continue offer the programming but in perhaps a slightly different format. I am a jazz listener, so I lost my Sirius channel to XM's Watercolors, yeh, so what......One week later I can not even remember what the Sirius channel was called! Sounds ok to me. Now, the Rock channels lost buzzsaw, you can find the same thing just listen. In fact, I like the way they went all the way back to the 40's music stuff, not that I am going to listen but if you buy mom and dad a receiver, maybe they will like to hear all the music of their era. Buy them one for Christmas.
What we need is to stop the worry about the little stuff, consolidation is a must to bring down costs, period. Save your energy for the announcement of the refinancing, if indeed it ever happens. I just hope that it happens soon!
Sirius XM Releases 5-Year Guidance: Aggressive or Conservative? [View article]
HAVE TO ADMIT..............I guess I am just an optimist. Here is a guy who everyone thinks is killing the stock of the company he runs. And, he owns a great deal of stock in. There are those that do not trust him because they think he is after the shares of his company whom are owned by major mutual funds as well as major share holders, the rest of the management, family and friends, clients, vendors, and employees. Most of you people don't really matter in the real scheme of things.
Why not leave this company alone for, perhaps 3 years. Come back and see if its' still at 26 cents. If it is, maybe you should buy some more in it, because its' still in business!
Sirius XM Releases 5-Year Guidance: Aggressive or Conservative? [View article]
A GOOD CEO, that's what Mel is working hard at being. He really is a gifted salesman who comes across with satifying results and you tend to want to buy what he is selling. Its hard to resist Mel's pitch, he's good. But sometimes a good salesman can get carried away and say alittle too much. Mel has done that too. Mouth before the mind. Thats the enthusiasm busting out, its uncontrollable. But, Mel is a perfect example of a well groomed CEO for the job at hand. He really loves what he does, and loves SXM. Todays news is really positive, I think conservative. The numbers in 2010 should be better than posted while new products are launched and the auto industry sees new light. Monday may be a bit of a set back for some who just read the surface of the report. Give it some time to unfold and let the pros decifer what it really says. However, the silence has been broken, and many who blog this channel should feel a little bit smaller with all of the hard words they have been giving Mel and management. Mel has been doing what he is paid to do. Go to work and grow the company. His latest release confirms they are going to grow. So, he IS getting the job done. But Mel, let the CFO make most of the announcements Monday. Save your salesmanship for the future not the reported past. Keep up the good work guys. As a large stockholder, I am proud of you guys, you're successes since the merger, and I stand proud to be a loyal subscriber and well wisher of the underdog, SiriusXM! Keep it up guys, and thanks!
Auto Sales: Good News on the Horizon? [View article]
Up the tail pipe (what kind of name is that?) You have a better idea than Mels? Let hear how you would have put the Siri XM deal together, just tell everybody how truely smart you really are!
They will meet their Feb. obligation and we will go from there.
But if you have a better way of coming up with the debt money why not explain it to everybody here?
Auto Sales: Good News on the Horizon? [View article]
Mel is working for the success of the company, period. You guys out there think that he hates the common stockholders. Thats absurd! Tell everyone about your plan, don't hear much of that constructive stuff. If you can't provide it then why not keep your negative thoughts to yourself. Right now Mel and company are preparing to pay off the first debt installment in Feb. Issuance of stock is just about their only meanings to gather up some of the cash that they need. Secondly, they have cash but probably will only utilize a small portion of it. Thirdly, they are going after, if not already attained, the balance of the needs. Meeting debt in Feb. is the #1 priority and they will be successful at it. Mel said that new business from the auto industry, if even flat numbers, would not impact Sirius. It would be nice to see sales from there but thats not counted on by management. Retail sales are hard pressed because of several factors some include a time factor just getting new products to market. Remember Sirius is a small manned company, while they have many outstanding product and service ideas, lets be realistic about how all of them are implemented. Again, this Feb. debt is foremost in managements minds. The amount of money they need is doeable. Ok, there are a few CEO's in the past that have taken advantage of the company that they represent. The vast majority however bust their buns to answer to the shareholders and the long term growth of the company. Mel is one of the leaders that believes in Sirius. He has gone through a lot just getting through the acquistition of XM and that has just been a few months ago. Now is a period of cost reduction, streamlining the two companies, cutting overhead, while at the same time planning for the future. Future is only possible if they meet their obligations in Feb. Now, they could file for restructuring but why? Reverse split is questionable for them to do, there is no assuance that would solve anything. The mandate is to growth the subscribers, the other mandate is to find the money to pay the first installment of debt. Half of the comments that come from some of you are coming from your losses. Stocks are for the long haul like the company themselves. There is no quick fix here guys, no 7 week turnaround. This is going to take some time. Mel and his team have a game plan, rest assured their not idiots. So, quit thinking they are! Give these guys the benefit of time so they can work out issues. In closing, I just wish Mel would hire me, I would work for free. I would go from Best Buy to Best Buy personnally arranging the stock, cleaning the shelves, to unloading trucks. I believe in Sirius and I believe in Mel. He is going to pull this off, just believe in him, he is working hard for his company, and proud of it too. He loves Sirius and takes his job very sirusly. Lets support this guy right now!
Auto Sales Drop Could Have Bad Impact on Satellite Radio [View article]
So the automakers are down, but not out completely. Mel himself said things in the auto industry would be flat. Right? The growth right now must come from products like panasonics new stuff, retail driven. But nothing is happening. SirisXM inventory at Best Buy, Circuit City and Radio Shack is ridiculous and CC's inventory has more dust on it than another shelf in the store. The stuff is in the back of the store, the end isle and at the bottom. What kind of retailing is this. Its November, what is the strategy guys?
Analysts See Weak Auto Sales as Real Challenge for Sirius XM [View article]
For Mel and Company.........went looking for a home portal kit this past weekend at Radio Shack, BB, and CC. BB had the best inventory, Radio Shack the worst. CC had dust on most of the stuff. Part of the problem is I have a ST2. Nothing in the stores for that. I ended up with a 12V 1.5amp charger from Radio Shack and an XM antenna from the back room at BB. Took me 3 hours to get this stuff so I could scare the heck out ot kids with channel 113 on Halloween. So cool to have it anyway, going to take my card board box with speakers, etc to Tahoe in two weeks, good music in the room! Ps. these retailers need help understanding the products and someone needs to put pressure on them to buy product for resale. I do not see any push in the stores this way and its November! What is going on Mel?

Lets take a pill until next week........then we will see if the sun comes up over the East or perhaps its going Nova!
Here's what I think. Times are tough and Mels going to talk about that but there will be a debt payment surprise. Siri will announce some good news on that front. It must be good news and they know it. They have been really busting gut on this topic. Restructuring, cost savings, etc, they know what they have to do.
Mel never intended to dilute the stock, however it happens to be one of the exiting means of fulfilling the debt call. There is a plan to all of this madness that worries so many share holders. Me, I watch a ball game and always take the side of the underdog. Regardless, I am a optimist that the lessor can overtake. Just a quick word on MW of Goldman. Can you imagine being a red blooded America who believes in the underdog like many Americans have done, especially those who have come to this country with literally nothing, but have made their fortunes believing in what America stands for? Now, imagine being someone like Mark who continues to be the bully, bashing down on many Americans dream of a small, technically solvent forward thinking business (who's counterpart in Europe and Asia is growing nicely) telling the shareholders that their stock is going from .33 to .25! What is wrong with this picture. This is painted like a school ground bully bashing on the forehead of Mark when he was young and now he is getting back.....and possibly having a very good time doing so. Can you imagine what, perhaps better things that Goldman could do with MW wages? Come on man......they have a guy who is infatuated with a company who is trying to make it. This guys no American who believes in the underdog. He supports something different, does he not?
Ok, enough of that, but I just had to give my two cents about how much I find it surprising that a big firm, well....ok, big honest firm like Goldman could have whimpering guys tracking penny, sorry, nickel stocks like Siri.
We are just about to hear the news that you all have been wanting to hear. Mel and company have been just doing what they need to do to report as well as they can and give some insight to the Feb. note. I guarantee you that a definite plan is in the works. The companies stock is widely held by institutions and their not bailing out. Why do you think that Siri just raised $30MM? That's part of the plan stupid! Everyone is pointing the finger at a guy who is working his ass off trying to make deals for the company. Please stop the insults and whining. Do you think you are qualified to become a millionare on a "get lucky" siri stock. Even with all of the money in the world you would still be a little whiny you. Get off Mels back and support what they are trying to do.
