  • Euro zone inflation continues plunge [View news story]
I think a deflationary depression didn't have any negative consequences in Europe last time it happened in the 1930s. Let me check my history books...

Actually...the ones who didn't read their brokerage statement probably did very well compared to the ones who opened their statements and proceeded to panic sell at the bottom.

  • BP: A Possible Tax Inversion Takeover Target [View article]
Such a deal would kill XOM's AAA rating. Never going to happen for that reason alone.

  • Inflation Is Rearing Its Ugly Head [View article]
The Fed cannot control inflation once it starts, despite Yellen's protests otherwise.

Precious metals action has been straight up for the past week after the release of CPI numbers, but I don't think it's too late to throw on a 5% hedge of PMs for a portfolio.

Because the market is on Fed-induced steroids, or human growth hormones, or some sort of magical drug. And there will be a reckoning soon...I swear. Maybe by 2022.

  • Chinese-Russian Credit Rating Agency Is A Haymaker Solution To Mounting Problems [View article]
"Free from the pressure of adhering to the standards of Western rating agencies, this independent agency has the potential to put upward pressure on economic growth for both nations involved through increased foreign direct investment."

FDI from where, the West? Dream on, no Western investor is going to invest in projects just because a Chinese/Russian agency gives a AAA rating to everything. It's not like S&P, Moody's, etc are that thorough, but if a company can't even clear that low bar, no one will invest in anything due to made up ratings from the Chinese/Russian equivalent.
