  • Cameco: The Single Best Investment For The Inevitable Uranium Rebound [View article]
ccj has already had its down draft, the rest of the market notwithstanding. thus, if and when the bull market as you say will end, ccj will be resistant to any fall

certainly gave me enough info with strong comments on its prospects. if you already have enough info, you should not be reading anything here.

  • Should I Convert My Dividend Growth IRA To A Roth IRA? [View article]
We all hate paying taxes, especially at the marginal rates. Assuming after considering all factors (aside from taxes) it's wise to convert, I would suggest taking a leave (no pay) from your job for as long as necessary and convert a comfortable amount tax-wise each taxable year during the leave. You will 'save' all or most of the taxes you would otherwise have to pay AND you use the savings to travel and do whatever you wanted to do but were otherwise afraid or economically or time-wise not possible to do. You will be doing all of this on the feds and states' dime.

  • Carl Icahn ups his stake in Chesapeake Energy (CHK) to 8.89% from 7.56% previously. Shares +2.3% premarket. (13D[View news story]
At current 17.42, it's a good and relatively safe entry point, especially now that the negativity on Aubrey has been fully played out on the share price. You could cover-sell the Dec 18 call at 0.50 to capture some premium income and provide for some downside cushion.

  • Which Retail REIT Can Deliver Stability And Yield? RioCan [View article]
What with all these 'tax' and 'withholding' shenanighans created by the various governments, 15% non-deductible and non-recoverable withheld on an IRA account makes a big dent, to the tune of negating the benefits of investing in such Canadian REITS. Better off sticking within the US and finding high yielding real estate REITS or MLP's for simplicity sake, if nothing else.

  • Thinking About Buying Government Bonds? Think Again [View article]
The investing public has followed the herd like sheep, but this time surely to the slaughter. Buying in at such low yields is an acceptance of the kiss of death. Bernanke and gang have been touting low interest rates but government bureaucrats have a way of changing gears and doing the exact opposite of what the public expects... Watch out for as early as the next months, SajitK above is right, it won't take much in the push-up of interest rates to create mayhem for bond holders.

  • Cisco Bulls: 4-1 Leverage For Almost Free [View article]
Slim is more right than other Sol and other commenters. Sure, 4 to 1 leverage, but you give up so many points to the tune of 23% of the upmove, which is an unrealistic move given CSCO's past/recent price action. And think of the margin for the naked puts, not to mention the commission on the multitude of calls bought at 0.23 If one is so bullish on CSCO, as one should be now, just buy the stock at current 15.95 on margin, buy protection the Jan 14 put for about .050, and ride the stock action out (as 52-week range has been 13.30 - 21.30)
