    What about gold? As a common man I decided for gold 1970, because I was sure of a doomed US-dollar. No sure papercurrency around.

    This is not investment, but insurance against loss of values and to protect me against old age

    Gold is not a usual commodity but principal money, or if you prefer it a risk premium against losses in the normal (fiat) moneymarket, so you should not be without physical possession of it.
