      Bullish on Telcos
Nice to see Cellcom high on the list. I am less bullish on Telco's.. they seem to be having a very hard time increasing wallet share.
Internet surfing from the phone is proving a flop and people are talking all they want to, texting all they want to and paying a fixed price. Competition is huge, moving operators easy (since the number migration law)..
Technicals isn't everything.. it shows the past, not future.
      Cheers.

MEMC's Whiff and Plunge: Snakebit Quarter
the company says it had a failure of a heat exchanger at a production facility in Italy and a fire at its Pasadena, Texas, plant... sounds almost like my excuses to my teachers in grade school, There was a fire in my backpack and the home work is gone!
There is some good news for me though, since I'm down so much on the stock, (20% in the past year) I feel no urge to sell it. The sector is promising, the CEO will probably get canned and I'll wait around for the stock to pick up again.
With the P/E of a donut shop, things can only get better.

      Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News
Stellar results for one of my favorite companies. ISRG is up 13.5% in the pre-market.
Beyond the numbers, there isn't much surprise.. this company is consistently driving forward in a field where it has no competition.
Robotic surgery is here to stay, as I plan to stay with this stock for years to come.
      You go girl!

      Apple’s Uncharacteristically Sloppy Execution
Analysts reaction to Apples reports was to lower the stocks' price by as much as 10% during beginning of trading.. So what happened that made Apple close at a mere -2.5%?
I think a lot of private investors gobbled up the discount stock awaiting the rebound back to $200.
I totally believe Apple will return to and break the $200 mark. Everything about the company looks great and recession or not, one just has to pop into the Apple store on 5th avenue NY and see the complete mayhem of shoppers cramming in endless lines to get the new AirBook.. have you seen it, by the way?
I definitely want to own stock in a company that produces that kind of machine.

How Will Display Ad Slowdown Affect Yahoo, AOL?
Banner ads will continue to decline. Most of Yahoo's banner profit is bogus. Click throughs are at about 0.1 % of banners served. More and more customers are realizing the hoax and pulling out. Yahoo is a dying company.. waiting for the CEO to leave, waiting to get bought out. But he biggest problem is Google innovation taking away more and more customers from Yahoo. Schools will have classes about Yahoo demise - "How not to run a business 101"

Some Energy Stocks Burn Brighter Than Others
TEHRAN (AFP) -- Iran's oil minister confirmed on Saturday that the French energy giant Total SA (12027.FR) was out of a multi-billion dollar gas investment in the Islamic republic, the state broadcaster reported.
"Total's recent move in withdrawal from phase 11 of the South Pars is a completely political move and not a commercial one," Nozari said.

The French firm's chief Christophe de Margerie said in an interview published Thursday that it was too politically risky to invest in Iran at present.

Western governments have pressured firms to cut their ties with Iran over the country's controversial nuclear program that world powers fear could be aimed at seeking atomic weapons.

If a giant like Total fina is pulling out of Iran, they must be under great political pressure to do so - gas will keep going up!

Apple: Justice Case Closed, iPhone Cracked Open
This is a classic. Apple knew how to shmooze the SEC, and i mean it as the biggest compliment!
First they said - it never happened.
Then they said - well, if it did happen, we are sorry.
Then they said - If we're sorry and it isn't enough, we'll do what has to be domne to rectify.
Look at Koby Alexander from Comverse... that idiot went egotistic on the SEC and is now hiding in Nigeria, waiting to be extradited to the FBI and do serious time.
it's all about style - and Apple has tons of it.

With all due respect MarketGuru has at least 20 members who have made money YTD..
Brokers are sometimes hung up on their own glory and usually work only in large cap US companies - and those are, and will continue to be, hit hardest.
time for the smaller caps, no doubt..

Did the E*Trade Baby Pay Off?
I'm glad i left this position a few weeks back... Etrade is wrapped in uncertainty.. no one knows for sure how much irresponsible money lending was going on during the "one click mortgage" days and it seems like investors won't touch this with a stick..
Once the credit crunch results are clearer this company could jump quickly so keep it on your watch list for a sunny day.. while you're at it I would add JPM as well, who seem to keep getting punished with the sector but lets not forget, they have all of Bear Sterns (R.I.P) assets just waiting to pay off..

iPhone Can Replace Laptops for Majority of Computer Users
Interesting but not new - the difference in price is mostly attributed to the screen so I think you are right, but Apple has nothing to worry about - the MacBook Air is all screen - anything smaller than that would simply be not inconvenient..

Coal and Steel Stocks Take A Hit
There are 4 main reasons for buying FDG in my opinion:
      1. Coal is a raw material in high demand and this Canadian trust has plenty of it.
      2. Canadian law gives energy trust a nice tax break. As an REIT the company passes this benefit on to investors.
      3. The Canadian dollar is stronger than the US currency so this position will also shelter against the state the dollar is in.
      4. annual dividend of 11%

I've been watching mellanox for a while now and hoping the recent dip is as low as it will go.
There is no apparent reason for Mellanox to decline like this accept the market is punishing everything these days.. this is a time for smart investors to pick up good companies super cheap, I'm hoping Mellanox is one of these..
