Rising Oil and the Future of Globalization: Implications for Transport Stocks
I'm out of this stock. It's a new shipping company based in Singapore and I thought it would be a good international play. I'm not sure how the shipping industry will react to the increase in oil prices which my strategy is based on, so I'm aligning my strategy and ditching this baby with a small loss..

Why I'm Covering Some of My Short Positions
Market has been terrible in the past week and they say Friday could be the rotten icing on that cake..
the thing to remember is that these bad phases usually end with massive hikes.. so don't get your money out, just make sure you're in mid cap companies with a clear value chain, no debt and preferably having to do with basic materials, energy or tech - seems to me like these sectors will best weather the storm.
      Happy trades everyone.

UBS Analyst Raises PotashCorp's Price Target
I don't want to spoil everyones party and I used to own potash myself until a few weeks ago. I would like to share my rational for selling.
potash isn't a new and emerging company.
      Potash isn't a software company.
      Potash isn't a biotech..
Potash is a $74 billion company that mixes fertilizers and industrial acids, puts them in sacks and sells to farmers around the world.
It's a great business, it's a great company with excellent financials and what appears to be excellent management.
But hold your horses everyone .. no company of this nature can justify a 190% gain in a year. This isn't a small cap hidden gem..
So fertilizer prices my be sky high, but at a P/E of 52.. Potash could take a serious dive, Be advised..

      Valuing GE (It's Cheap)
I am looking at fundamentals and what I see is a company with shrinking earnings growth, negative cash flow and unimpressive profit margins. You are right that the P/E looks inviting (13) and I too have heard of these new technologies being researched by GE.. My fear is that conglomerates aren't good and researching effectively.. GE has 327,000 mouthes to feed and a bad economy will hurt them huge. Entering a process of layoffs always brings the stock price down.
And though I don't think GE is a risky investment, I can't be convinced to own this company over other, more focused large cap companies who have an org chart that I, or anyone else, can understand..

Adobe F2Q08 (Qtr End 5/30/08) Earnings Call Transcript
I bought some ADBE on April 28th and though the market has slid some
more since then, I'm up 11% on this holding.
This is proof that there is no alternative to value investing.
Adobe is a jewel of a company. 3 strong product lines, great
management and continuous great product launches. So when the market
turn bad, investors fly to companies they can trust and that's why
Adobe is actually on the rise.
      This companies numbers are sweet:
A 30% operating margin, quarterly earning growing 40%, lots of cash,
no debt, no competition - just an ever growing demand for graphic
      software fondly nicknamed "Photoshop".
It's all good over at Adobe's and I think it's a wise place to park
      till the rain stops.

Is Oil a Bubble? Part 3
      My friend,
I thought your analysis was impressive but dare say you're missing the point. oil isn't about supply, demand or available reserves.. Oil is about P-A-N-I-C..
Without Oil the Chinese and Indian economies (and many more for that matter) will simply come to a halt. China will pay any price to secure that black fluid that keeps factory machines working. You could find a huge Oil well in downtown NYC and the price will still remain the same. I guarantee Oil will reach $200 and beyond. The good news is that alternative energy is now fully funded and results will show soon, but the price of Oil will never drop.
      Cheers.

Apple iPhone Users to Reach 30 Million by 2010 - Goldman
Without getting into details or analysis my basic idea is that the Brand is king.. Apple will continue to out perform because their story is more than in numbers.. it's the holistic experience that is "Apple".. example:
When you call the Apple store.. there is no IVR asking you to click "dos" for spanish and no waiting around - you get a human answer that directs you straight to where you need to go - that's brand.
When I went to the Apple store to by phones for my girlfriend.. it was a packed store.. so this guy checks me out with a portable credit card machine and sends the receipt to my e-mail.. that's brand.
When I ordered a nano from the Apple on-line store.. the Nano came fully charged and ready to go! How annoying is it when you get a new device, to have to charge it for 24 hours before starting use? Apple get it, so they pre charge it.. that's brand!!
Microsoft has no brand.. it's a nuisance monopoly that one must live with. Some one mentioned the Zune.. are you serious? what a floporama! how many did they sell excluding the gates family, three?
You mentioned LG teaming up with Microsoft, but you can't team up with microsoft.. to team up, you have to know how to share, MS doesn't.
It's been said that the only product Microsoft could launch that wouldn't suck... is a vacuum cleaner.. hehe..
