Evergreen Solar, SunPower Among Solar Stars - Kaufman
Remember, my friends that with all the enthusiasm, 2008 is and will continue to be a rough year over all. We've all been raking in returns in the 30-40% rate range for the past few years, but I think these days smart money has to go on low well run, low P/E 'here to stay' companies.
Apple iPhone Users to Reach 30 Million by 2010 - Goldman
I predict that in 5 years your life will look like this:
You'll come home from work, stick your iPhone into it's slot on the 50" Apple TV screen, you'll turn the TV on and you'll see a screen looking much like iTunes. You'll then decide if you want to here music from your collection, rent a movie from iTunes or even shop on Amazon and pay through your iPhone / Apple account.
It is clear that the more a buying process that the corporation ownes, the more succesfull it will be in fending off competition. Now check this out, Apple creates:
Hardware (iPhone, MAC and your future TV screen)
Software (iTunes, Leopard)
Communications (iPhone billing rev share)
and.. MEDIA! (selling songs, movies, ringtones)
No one else even comes close!
Microsoft sells only software.
Dell sells only hardware
Verizon sells only communications
Warner Bros Sell only content.
All these players can play on but it won't be long before they have to play ball with Stevie J, Cuz I bought my beautiful 50" TV at the Apple store, I buy my music on iTunes and if the HBO back episode isn't for rent on iTunes I guess I'll just rent something else..
I predict Apple will see $400 within the next 5 years. This company is run brilliantly.
PSI: Cautiousness Prevails Despite Recent Run-up
Let's take a macro look at this.. a company that producers wafers for sun powered energy, a new market on the move with a P/E of around 20.. that's a P/E we're used to seeing for companies in more established sectors. The reason for this is that WFR is simply a well run company with outstanding financials!
ROE is at 39% - this company has zero debt. Revenues are growing at a nice 14% quarterly rate..
And the greatest news is that this company creates solar wafers from... beach sand that is readily available in Florida... that's why the company shows gross profits of $1 billion on $2 billion in sales. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

If anything, the davinci robot saves hospitals money because it reduces recovery time, which frees up hospital beds faster... at $4,000 a night, a million dollars isn't that much.. I don't see the correlation really...

Yahoo: If You Want Independence, Back Away From Google
The fact that Yahoo even suggested talking to Google just shows what a dead horse Yahoo is... can you imagine? turning your search over to Google for a couple of bucks? Killing a 3.5 billion dollar overture deal to fend off a hostile takeover.. Yahoo is over my friends.. Terry Zemel just botched that baby bad... and the halls are still filled with old media people who know nothing about the net or innovation.. I used to own Yahoo and made a ton of $$ out of it.. though I've long since sold, it's still sad to see what a pathetic pile of code this once great innovator has become..
