  • Micron Technology: SSD Price Tipping Point In Sight [View article]
William, Could you help me understand the time line you presented above: "the first in 2016 when the new enterprise 3D drives are available for qualification...". If MU is sampling now and will be in full production in CY 4Q, why would the 3D drives only go into qualification in 2016? Is it the difference between client drives and enterprise drives?? Thanks for your help

David Wong of WFC must have some sort of issue with MU with his constant low balling of his price target. Either they are short or are major investors in one of MU's competitors

What has confidence have to do with it , they are calling what they see for the next Q , and they also see a strong 2h, matters only if one is playing options

Learn from what mistake? The guidance this qtr. was right on. They are calling the next Q as they see it, and hopefully under promising. I liked what I saw this aft. and their projection for the 20 nm dram shipments was +, nand sold as components down to 30% range from 50% into higher margin products, ... They see next Q revs slightly down but very strong demand into the end of year. So, the market can bang it down on this projected 2.9% to 9.6% decline in revs for next Q , and if so I'll be buying more

MU has stated that they will be in full production in 4 Q, prob. calendar yr.
So how does that translate to 2017 for contribution from 3D NAND??

I agree with you and your challenging of assertions. I brought it up because the scenario of MU losing 50% of AAPL's business is not verifiable!

Also, isnt it true that AAPL does not disclose contracts and suppliers? How can anyone be sure that this 50% supply story is correct?

"Micron is spending $1.1 billion of capital expenditures for product enablement to include advanced packaging, controllers, firmware, test and assembly and software."
Wonder if the Pico computing purchase is under this $1.1 bil capex being that they have a controller for the HMC by MU.

Is not the Automata chip capable of this also, w/o the ability to be reprogrammed?
