  • $60: Not A Reasonable Price For Oil [View article]
Just a small correction. Unlike the UAE and Qatar, The KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) doesnt have quite the same "welfare system that other oil rich countries do and alot of Saudis do work. Same as in Bahrain, who think very lowly of people from the UAE, Kuwait and Dubai as being fat and lazy (which, generally speaking is true). There are in fact alot of poor Saudis who work in menial jobs (driving taxis, house maids, etc etc) You will NEVER see that in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Qatar). I know the media potrays all Saudis as being rich and lazy but thats just not true. However, if you are part of the ruling family, which numbers in the thousands, then yes, life is a golden parachute. But not so good for the Saudis that dont belong to the right tribe. Hence the reason Saudi had to come up with an emergency plan to hand out money to the poorer Sauds to quell any uprising. The Saudis could learn a thing or two from the Qatari's by distributing the wealth more fairly. Actually so could Nigeria *ahem*. I never understood why a ruling family or dictator has to steal ALL the money! Okay, so take a few billion for yourself. But use the other 10's of billions to bring the rest of your country men up. Share the damn wealth! I mean, who needs 30 billion dollars. You cant take it with you when you die! Can you? If you read about the history of Qatar (I worked there for 7 years) the ruling family back in the 80's was doing the same as the Sauds and keeping all the oil and natural gas money for themselves. The Emirs son did a bloodless coupe (with the backing of the US, in exchange for us being able to relocate the airbase in Saudi Arabia to Qatar), gave his father about 5 billion to keep, took back 25billion and repatriated it back to the state cofers and exiled him to Morocco, where I believe he still lives in his huge palace. Then started distributing the money to the people and building up the country. Hence the reason why Qatari's will never uprise against the ruling family. Why would they? They get free money, free education, free electricity and water and can take out ridiculous sums on bank loans and never pay them back. I will say, the Emir is trying to curb all this now, because he has realized this has created a population that is just getting fat on welfare(literally..I saw Qataris so fat they could barely walk around the gilded Villagio mall) .But they (the Saudis) also have a much larger population. Qatar has about 130,000 true Qataris and the rest are expats like me, while Saudi has about 30million people (non expats). But trust me, the Saudis will have to make a move to get oil back up or they will face geopolitical instability, if they stop being able to afford the 3,000dollar a year per person policy they just put in place. Its a dangerous game all across the board. Throw Putin and the ruble into the mix and wowser! I sure hope Obama knows what he is doing.

  • Is IBM Suddenly Vulnerable To A Takeover? [View article]
Can I get at least a 190? Just kidding..but I do think 170 is way too low considering this stock was at 190 in Oct. On a more serious question..has IBM EVER crashed on an earnings report like this before? Going from 190 in Oct to 160 now, just seems brutal. And its pr'ing new stuff everyday AND I believe the NYA (NYSE COMPOSITE (DJ)has gap filled, and correct me if I am wrong but isnt IBM one of the biggest companies that is part of NYA? Why isnt it moving up? In fact, the NYA has literally skyrocketed from OCT. Its almost like IBM has experienced its first bear raid.

Purely theoretically speaking, what do you think a good take out price would be? 190-210? Or is that too high? Or too low?

They need to sell the company outright as a single entity..and soon, before the stock gets so low that any premium would be right at where the stock is now.

  • Alibaba Q2 2015 Preview: Buy Ahead Of Result [View article]
Your article came out three hours ago (right?) but says it was published yesterday at 12AM. Confused (??) Technically only applies to large traders that can start trading at 4am. I dont think most here are any of the big boys. I always wondered HOW to be able to trade at 4am. Anyone know? Anyway, we will know in a few hours regardless. All bets have pretty much been made already. 90% of traders and option buyers knew BABA reports today at 7:30. Going to be an EXTREMELY volatile trading day. This will have a bug impact on the market either way it goes.

  • Microsoft May Have Delivered A Knockout Punch To BlackBerry [View article]
Well, one customer is the ENTIRE US military. I know because I deploy black berry's to the users. They (the users) are a major pain in the you know what, but you will not find any US military personnel with anything but a blackberry issued to them by the Dept of Defense. Actually the entire DoD uses BES servers. So thats one customer.

  • Ebola Stocks: A Real Portfolio Killer [View article]
Surprised you dont think IBIO is not a good ebola play. However, hear me out before you think Im a pumper, because you might be right BUT I would like your opinion on some things. Links provided.

HHS is working to get ZMAPP ramped up to thousands of doses and from what I can tell Caliber is the only company that has said they can do it. . They license that tech to do it from Ibio. Now we have a nurse that called the CDC, , and they cleared her to fly one day before she was symptomatic (to me that is such a grey area and I am incredulous that CDC cleared her to fly). I watched the CDC briefing Wednesday and so should you. The CDC director said ALL healthcare workers that had contact with Duncan were under strict observation. Not only did they NOT report that the care givers were on airplanes, but that she had been admitted to the hospital the day before!
IBIO is the only way to invest in ZMAPP.
Here is the link for Caliber working in conjunction with HHS.
Sincere question. Is it you think IBIO is a bad play, or just that the whole Ebola thing is being overreacted to and all plays for Ebola are portfolio killers? Im not trying to change your mind and I agree that some of the companies are definitely being hyped on the Ebola hype (LAKE..which I made money on, SIMH, APT). BUT, it seems to be that ZMAPP is the only drug that can be massed produced quickly enough.
Now how effective it is is another question but it seems that a shotgun approach will be needed soon, with sick nurses flying around. Also, if you look at some very verified experts, their charts showing the spread of Ebola in the US are frightening. After 20-50 cases the infection rate chart almost goes straight up, because you just cant track anymore, who has been where and passed the disease to. Tracking the disease becomes a mute point at this stage.
So Author, at what point do YOU think this whole Ebola thing goes from fiction/hype to a real issue (as in number of people sick) and what stocks would YOU recommend? Or you recommend none..I can see the moral dilemma.
    Thank you for your time.

I just bought into IBIO yesterday. Author, what are your thoughts on IBIO? One author thinks its a scam but after digging into it, it seems pretty legit with HHS looking to use Caliber for producing ZMAPP, which Caliber gets its tech from IBIO and since Caliber is private and so is the company that makes ZMAPP, IBIO is the only way to buy into ZMAPP. What are your thoughts? Thanks

  • Ebola Threatens Global Stock Market [View article]
Finally, someone else put into words what I have been posting on other boards. This will not be contained in the US due to our ability to travel unlike people in west africa who normally dont have cars, trains planes and highways. Once we start getting clusters, its game over.

  • Has The Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Ebola Trade Run Its Course? [View article]
That is a very good question. If I were to guess one of two things are happening:
Monday, the WHO has a conference to outline a plan of attack. My guess it will go like this (at warp speed). Quickly start field testing TKM-Ebola in a few infection spots. Closely monitor the results with a microscope (literally). Once its proven to work, quickly deploy doses of TKM-E to all infection sites, and get the word out to all Africans via a WHO sponsored publicity campaign, and start treating the infected. (If it doesnt work then god help us all).
    So on to your question:
Either countries are in talks NOW with Tekmira to start stockpiling, depending on the shelf life.
Or they are standing by for field results before paying for stockpiles of the drug.
I dont see any other possible scenarios. One thing I do know, is that the US/CDC/WHO has GOT to get on top of this before it really really gets out of control. If I lived in West Africa I would say its already out of control, but brothers, if this thing gets to the US its a game changer. I dont care what people say. Air travel within the US will become restricted, the National Guard will be deployed to quarantine cities, towns, and states. It would also cause the country to go into a recession of the likes never seen before. It would be the first domino to fall that the stock market needs to begin a major correction. The irony is that Tekmira would be like putting your money in Gold. It would be one of the few stocks to be recession proof. I know this all sounds like hyperbole but its just my worst case scenario and I dont think its so unlikely, IF we dont contain this thing and put everything into it, NWO..opps I meant NOW.

  • Update: Tekmira Clinical Hold Lifted [View article]
Please note that there was a doctor in America, who has family from Sierra Leon who started an online petition that gained ALOT of attention. The basis of the petition was, why is the FDA holding back TKM-Ebola specifically. He reached the 50,000 signatures needed. He also did several interviews with several news stations (unfortunately none that are on the international stage) . How much effect he had on the FDA changing the hold is obviously impossible to know, but it seemed to me like the petition gained alot of media attention. His twitter page is . Personally I think he made a difference. I do plan on donating some profits to organizations that he thinks need it. I myself wrote an email to the President of the US. i wont get into the contents of the email but I basically politely asked him
    1) Why is treatment only being given to Americans
    2) This is a chance of a lifetime for him to set his legacy as the President that avioded a potential global catastrophic epidemic
    3) I listed several companies that could provide treatment now and that if this isnt contained in Africa, then we will have to contain it in the US and elsewhere.
To think that this virus will not reach US shores, is ridiculous. Someone WILL get thru. People keep saying that even if we do have an infected patient get thru, the US will have no issues containing an outbreak. I scoff at that and I will tell you why. Yes, the healthcare system is better here, But Americans tend to travel ALOT further than most Africans, because we have CARS, and highways, and larger cities. What if this virus has mutated into an airborne virus? Also the incubation period seems longer. 10's of thousands of Americans could get infected in multiple high population cities, before the CDC has a clue that patient zero has even touched down on US soil. ..I dont know, maybe Im ranting and going into over hyper mode, but the whole thing kinda scares me to be honest.

  • Update: Tekmira Clinical Hold Lifted [View article]
I know you are probably directing this to the author, but think of this scenario.
Infected person gets to the US right before they start showing symptoms. This mutation of the virus seems especially transmittable. I might go so far as to say its mutated into an airborne version (its a scientific fact that mutations of the ebola virus have been airborne during testing in labs). Say the infected person makes it into a major populated city. He/she also infects other people on the airplane. Now how high do you think this stock can go? Over time, as the cases increase and spread to the US, China, India, millions upon millions of doses will be needed. Tekmira will be the lead company on this war. I dont think people have any idea what the world is dealing with and the possibilities. Anyway, share price of this company is going to go parabolic even in the best case scenario, which is, this is contained in Africa...opps sorry, its too late, its already gotten to the Middle East. If TKM-Ebola works, countries around the world will be clamoring for its cure. Company will be worth billions. This is just the start....unfortunately.

  • Update: Tekmira Clinical Hold Lifted [View article]
Great article however..forgot to add that. Thanks for the update. And not to sound like a pumper, but with everything this company has going on, and with the extent of the epidemic I think this companies valuation will be in the billions very shortly. So let me ask you, where do you see the price of this stock going?
I belong to other investment boards and read where people are starting short positions (as the price keeps skyrocketing) and think they must be insane to short this stock. Isnt there some meeting today in Washington D.C. concerning the epidemic? And what if other countries start approaching Tekmira for doses as well? I mean the sky is the limit for this my opinion of course. Im buying it hand over fist.

Author, Im pretty sure that TKM-Ebola is not a vaccine. Its a curative drug. Not sure why people/news sites keep getting this wrong. It was tested in non human primates and had a 100% CURE rate when administered within the appropriate time frame.
