I am a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder with over 10 years of financial and accounting experience located in Stamford, CT. I gained my work experience by working for two mutual funds and a big four and a local accounting firms. I started my professional career at Grant & Simmons, CPAs, followed by brief work at the Connecticut Venture Group and interned for a few years at PricewaterhouseCoopers tax department before my tenure in the investing industry. I am a member of the CFA Institute and in my free time I spend time with my wife and two boys, stay current on news, and occasionally contribute articles on the internet.
I am a CPA licensed in the State of New Jersey, currently working in a boutique accounting firm.
I am an avid reader of Benjamin Graham's works and apply his methods of analysis when researching investment opportunities.
I've been contributing to SA since 2011, with a break to join the PRO editorial team from 2013-2015. I got my Series 7 and 63 back in 2000, and watched the dot-com bubble peak and then burst in real time at a small, tech-focused retail brokerage in NYC.
I appreciate any feedback to my posts. I attempt to respond to all initial comments by readers. There may be a delay in my response and time limitations may prevent further responses by me.
Hello, my name is David. I am a swing trader on bank and technology stocks, mostly the largest market caps in these two sectors. I monitor the fundamental trends then determine if some are over-priced or under-priced stocks for possible short or long positions. I also follow the seasonality and annual cyclical performance of companies, as applicable, for position set-ups. Sometimes I play pre- or post- quarterly earnings if the investor sentiment shift becomes too skewed and extreme. At that point, I also utilize technical analysis.
My view is from afar at a lake in Oklahoma in a low noise environment. I have traded for many years and noticed long ago I did better if I followed my ideas and ignored the chatter and buzz. Someone will always have a reason to buy or sell a stock no matter what the circumstances. Patience and timing is critical so as to not force a trade. Don't go to the trade, the trade will come to you if you are diligent.
Therefore, the less noise the better for me. Accordingly, while I analyze macroeconomic data and the specifics of company financial statements, I ignore business media histrionics and hype. I don't watch TV and especially don't watch business channels.
I receive my own alerts for companies I am covering and have my own calendar for macroeconomic data I am charting for trends. Technology has enabled me to create my own databases and monitor events without reliance on location or mass media. We've come a long way from the old Bloomberg screens which were seemingly a miracle at the time, lol.

Class President of the National University of Singapore MBA Program and former FX trader at CIBC (NYSE: CM). Sean holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a Major in Finance and Minor in Economics from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.
I am a former hedge fund portfolio manager that trades for my own personal account. I espouse Graham and Dodd/Buffett style investing, always on the lookout for value equities or bonds. A graduate of Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management, I lived in NYC for a decade before relocating with my family to the Charlotte, NC area in 2007.
Currently I am the Chief Analyst at sharpeequities.com.
