Note to Radio Companies: It's About Innovating More, Not Sucking Less
Radio does have passionate champions for their brand and content in their P1's and broader audience community. Creating branded social network tools for the audience community is clearly the way to make Radio "suck less". By allowing the audience to interact with one another on line, create their own conversation, voice expression and content around the live Radio content (and the best of it gets on air) is a powerful proposition. By providing the audience the tools to share their content along with the station's brand and content through their own online social networks will build the connections and community that will dramatically increase on line and on air audience and engagement. Radio, was the first interactive medium (requests, dedication, call-in talk) and was all about the personal relationship to its local audience community and the close interaction with that audience. The technology has arrived to get that back and refresh radio so it remains relevant to its listeners and it can effectively compete in a rapidly changing media landscape.

Great article by JP that truly maps out the game plan for Radio to be successful in the future.
