      Spansion/Intel/STM: Phase Change Phantoms
PCM Overturned? Hmmm... lets see... DRAM, EPROM --> Flash, and SRAM have been around for at least 30yrs. The fact is the ability to scale these technologies is causing the lage investment in the industry. Intel and hence Numonyx (Intel / ST spinout) will be in a great position should they be able to drive the technology into the industry.

The memory market is >$30B. Having a substantial lead in a technology that has the potential to displace the current technologies seems like a prudent investment to me.

Spansion Investors Long Overdue Some Gains
You are missing the fact that Spansion is trying to ramp their SP1 300mm factory with a data device (ORNAND or is it POORNAND) in the midst of the NAND ASP storm. I'd rather try to sell snow to an Eskimo then 1 Gb NOR based data device in this environment.

The other tidbit you need to understand as that their "newer" technology is not scalable - read the technical literature - and certainly doesn't even come close to meeting the reliability they state in their data sheets.

Oh... I forgot to mention Quadbit is their savior... give me a break... why would I buy a device with ultra low reliability and usage when I can get NAND with superior performance at a better ASP/MB?

These guys are as close to going out of business as I've seen so going long on SPSN is a mistake... but I'll take your money... again... if you want to give it to me.
