  • Genco Shipping: Coming Out of Hibernation [View article]
I always listen to people who can't spell the names of the company they are writing about.

  • Why I Don't Think Genco's Prices Will Reach Prior Highs [View article]
I didn't read the wall of text above in either the article or the first comment, but I know that the loss on JIN stock in GNK possession is accounted for on their balance sheet already, it will not be recorded on the income statement until they make a sale at either a loss or a gain, but from an asset and equity position, it is already accounted for.

  • Genco Shipping's New Bulk Carrier Leased at a Whopping Rate [View article]
    Tim,

The good news was the delivery of the ship. Not the contract rate. The rate was negotiated months ago as someone else said. The previous guidance from Genco was that the ship would not be delivered till 2009. The delivery on time was a "surprise" that may have bounced the stock.

Once again - 0 due to the contract, much due to the fact that the contract will be honored.

Wow, the average non-professional investor really is clueless. At least he didn't name the company GenKo like others have.

  • Looking Good: Genco in Particular, Shipping in General [View article]
Unbelievable that someone (even an internet site) would publish this nonsense.

" but it’s already too late for the first bounce, because the ask price at my broker was already up above $23." = amateur hour at Seeking Alpha.

the good one - Do your own research. Never trust an article or author who can't spell the company name that he is talking about (Gen*k*o Shipping). *sigh*

  • Genco Shipping & Trading Limited Q2 2008 Earnings Conference Call Transcript [View article]
Natasha Boyden from Cantor I think was drunk. Why did she keep insisting that there should be scrapping in the industry? I thought the comments about the industry to take away from the call were the figures concerning new builds. Looks like 08 will be behind, along with 09.

  • Two Water Transport Plays - Besides DryShips [View article]
Listen to what Doug M has to say during the capital link website interview. That has some nice insight if you are thinking about DRYS.

It's funny, most people who are in these stocks know more about the people who are writing articles about them. This article was poor. It offered little substance.

  • Dryship's Transformational CEO [View article]
DRYS does not meet my self imposed criteria to be in my IRA account, but in my trading account (which I aim to double yearly), DRYS is a significant holding.

GE, even on his conference calls comes across as confrontational, cocky, and unprofessional. I'm suprised that his own greed hasn't taught him to curb that sort of behavior. I'm sure that he has been told that it is his attitude and persona which is the reason that DRYS sells at a discount to it's peers.

  • Tanker Stocks: Bargains Here? [View article]
I'm starting to get sick of these articles. People who aren't really posting any relevant information. I would equate this article to me posting the following about apple:

"So I went to the store last week and bought and iPod shuffle. It holds two gigs of music in get this, digital format! I played it while i went running yesterday. I thought, look at me, I'm cool. Turns out it's made by a company named Apple that trades under "AAPL". They've been making them for quite a while and increasing the ammount of them that they sell. A business fueled by irreversable cool forces - that makes a great investment. Buy AAPL - I did!"

  • A Rising Tide Lifts Bulk Shippers [View article]
Correct gaucho. There are a lot of "temporary supply" and "temporary demand" issues that can effect BDI. Many ships are contracted out in 3-7 year deals. So though there are "6500 ships out there", there are significantly less be chartered out at a given time.

Message boards have speculated there there has been a manipulation for a long time. I was always very skepitcal of this talk, but maybe it turns out it is true. Anyway, it's impossible to manipulate markets long term without monopoly. I have faith in economics and long term prospects of these shippers.
