i'm confused. why do you need a publisher, now that you have amazon? won't authors start making direct deals with amazon and get the lion's share for their work? the justification for paying a publisher a huge cut is gone. amazon can crank up a side deal with a publisher for small runs of hardcopies based on the number of orders it receives for them. authors should be able to get a much better deal now.
