etrade has given me better service at better prices than my previous platforms. i also have an account at schwab, which does not give me as much info and costs more. i'm happy to hear that they are doing mortgages again, as i am a no risk customer just looking to refinance.
i still love e-trade. i'm proud of the way they have treated me whenever i ask questions or have a problem. if they are showing that much attention and appreciation to all their customers, they will survive. i know that lots of us have been hammered by the market, but as soon as things gain traction, i will be adding to my accounts and i suspect others will be too.

i guess that's what people shorting energy were thinking. it's a crowded trade, lots of people keep getting in and the price keeps going higher against the dollar. so far, however, they've been getting burned.
the key is not knowing that something is expensive or too expensive. the key is following direction. that's what makes a good lover and a good investor. you've got to wait until they move in your direction.

i'm a trader. i trade with e-trade. hmmm, if all the e-trade traders traded e-trade stock, we could probably send it higher and make ourselves rich. of course, we couldn't agree to do that because it would violate the law, but that sure is a heady way to daydream.
i am not currently long or short, but i am examining my options.
for those of you willing to read this far down, let me add a short personal testimonial. i have had an investment and trading account with etrade for years. i also have brokerage accounts at schwab and others. i was literally amazed that anyone jumped ship when they thought etrade was being attacked. their service and rates are that much better.
in addition, my credit is excellent and just over a year ago, i was shopping for a $300+ mortgage. although i was a good customer with a net worth that easily covered the mortgage, i still had many forms to complete and much evidence to provide. despite good cutomer service, i was unable to get my lowest rate from etrade. i was able to beat them twice locally. this suggests to me that their mortgage department was not as aggressive as others and they were extremely cautious lenders.
