Too eager to boost your morale. Your contradict yourself saying you are the greatest manufacturer of the world (which is still true by the way) and on the opposite saying that the information economy trumps all, let's get rid of manufacturing (that's not where the money is, that's simply where the FED pumps money). Now, making a GI doll is no big deal but it's a start. Look at Airbus and Chinese are building Airbuses. In 20 years, you are going to say who cares about building a plane, so mundane, and we'll all be bloggers providing info nobody has time to read.

sky2evan I agree with your international allocation, you have very good deals abroad and these past months you also made a killing on the currency (which certainly explains a good deal of the difference in relative performance but this is also a risk). However, the purpose of the article is to show that not all things are dead in the US and I think the author is correct. You also have very good investments in the US.
Corporations issue bonds when they are big enough to access capital markets. For a lot of reasons it's better to go on the capital markets than borrowing with the banks. Furthermore, it would be difficult for a bank to loan 1 bil to one counter party (CVS). Now, regarding the capacity of the banks to smell fire... I wouldn't trust such capacity.
