The market is totally dysfunctional and the only rational approach is day-to-day assessment. Unless your time horizon is > 2 years and arguably 5, only trade day to day and stay is cash. That is what I am doing.

Phil- Thanks, it amazes me people will spend that much money on a put. Gene Muenster, Piper Jaffray, has been quite bullish on GOOGLE but believes it will trade sidewys thru August. The YHOO-MSFT collapse had no poistive impact on Google which surprised me. SF94127
I surveyed GOOG options and I see puts with premiums in the range $35-$55 at strike prices less then $500. The volume is not that high or low. Are these hedges against long positions in GOOG stock? I find it hard to believe GOOG won't break out past $500 by October.
The Fed can not control the price of oil, lets get that out the way. Its tight supply and geopolitical threats that threaten to cut off supply and the fact that the Saudi's have little spare capacity and the other suppliers have no spare capacity.

Good article. I would add a lot of companies are now mostly hiring "term employees"; the big drug companies do this. These term employees are quasi employees, get some benefits, but are treated as disposable items. Actually most employees in usa are treated as no more then organic machinery. No wonder many people give up.
