  • Will Expected Rally Be Part Bear or Bull? [View article]
The market is totally dysfunctional and the only rational approach is day-to-day assessment. Unless your time horizon is > 2 years and arguably 5, only trade day to day and stay is cash. That is what I am doing.

  • John Hussman: The Market Is Not in Uncharted Territory [View article]
The world in 1929 was completely different. Yoiu did not have huge emerging economies like China, India, Brasil. We're much more resilient.
I don't believe charts from the 1920's, 30's or even 70's are that useful.

Yeah, it is painful to have another Bush "I feel your pain" speech.

  • Stock Market to Bernanke: Hints Aren't Good Enough [View article]
Bernanke's "speeches" are excruciating. He dances around issues instead of speaking plain and straight. He must have mentioned his concern about inflation three times!!! No wonder the market crashed.
And Bush is no help either,

  • What the Hedge Funds' Bad September Could Mean for Markets [View article]
Yes, Chris Cox finally got around to enforcing naked short selling, a practice which supposedly contributed to the Great Depression in the 30's. The more things change the more they stay the same.

    Phil-
Thanks, it amazes me people will spend that much money on a put.
Gene Muenster, Piper Jaffray, has been quite bullish on GOOGLE but believes it will trade sidewys thru August. The YHOO-MSFT collapse had no poistive impact on Google which surprised me.

I should add my review of GOOG options concludes price is pinned at 480 or 470. I'm new to options so other opinions welcome.

I surveyed GOOG options and I see puts with premiums in the range $35-$55 at strike prices less then $500. The volume is not that high or low. Are these hedges against long positions in GOOG stock? I find it hard to believe GOOG won't break out past $500 by October.

  • What the Fed May Say Tomorrow [View article]
The Fed can not control the price of oil, lets get that out the way.
Its tight supply and geopolitical threats that threaten to cut off supply and the fact that the Saudi's have little spare capacity and the other suppliers have no spare capacity.

  • Lies, Damn Lies and the Unemployment Rate [View article]
Good article. I would add a lot of companies are now mostly hiring "term employees"; the big drug companies do this. These term employees are quasi employees, get some benefits, but are treated as disposable items. Actually most employees in usa are treated as no more then organic machinery. No wonder many people give up.
