  • Hedge Funds: Forced Selling Provides Opportunities  [View article]
Hedge fund dumping massive amounts of stock to come up with cash for redemptions, loans, margin calls, etc.

This dumping lowers the value of the remaining stocks they own which forces more selling. And so on. What is the sense to all this? Qui bono?

  • 60% of Google Employee Stock Options Are Drowning [View article]
The true believers will stay at Google. Google could issue new stock options that are not underwater. Any of the major insiders at Google buying or are they selling? Employees will look at that. I worked for a company where insiders were still selling boatloads when price was way down. So basically they are saying the company won't do better.

I'm concerned the DOJ will place a cloud over GOOGLE. You think if Russia had the world's leading SE they would harass the company that created it? Our gov't is Lenin on crack, they need to get a life. A good example of this nonsense is the huge threat of Whole Foods cornering the organic tomato market.

    Phil-
Thanks, it amazes me people will spend that much money on a put.
Gene Muenster, Piper Jaffray, has been quite bullish on GOOGLE but believes it will trade sidewys thru August. The YHOO-MSFT collapse had no poistive impact on Google which surprised me.

I surveyed GOOG options and I see puts with premiums in the range $35-$55 at strike prices less then $500. The volume is not that high or low. Are these hedges against long positions in GOOG stock? I find it hard to believe GOOG won't break out past $500 by October.

  • On Yahoo/ Microsoft: Jerry Yang Should Be Fired [View article]
Yeah, Yang should be fired. This is an example of need to rotate management when the company reaches certain tier levels. Yahoo is back to being somewhat irrelevant again. Ballmer is not going to waste his time again with YAHOO unless he has an adult over there to negotiate with.

  • Why Was Everyone Wrong on Google? [View article]
Because a lot of analysts and other parties (e.g. Comscore) are so obsessed with finding the smoking gun they ignore fundamental reserach and journalism principles. In other words they suck at their jobs.

  • Yahoo's Future: The Employee Perspective [View article]
Who cares if the YHOO engineers are happy. There isn't much loyalty in the Valley in either direction especially in the software industry. MSFT is buying a brand with market share and they can impove the business situation over at YHOO. Yang is grasping at straws in trying to revitalize yhoo biz. YHOO stock price will drift down. MSFT will do well either way.
