Okay, sold the remainder upon reading the article because once this starts it just goes on and on - had sold some at 20%, and now at 15%. Sort of seen this coming as the short float is at 14%.
When they started to beat on POT, someone put out an article about the dividend being in danger and the day it was submitted it was raised from 31 to 35.
DBD isn't the fastest horse in the race but a steady one for a lonnnnng time.

  • Darden: Dividend Darling To Drop? [View article]
SA Market Currents shows DRI earnings report (which is disappointing) at 7:24am and the dividend .55 in line with previous at 7:26am. Later additional news also states that DRI will be doing personnel cut- backs across all restaurants/holdings.
So the dividend doesn't go up but it isn't cut either.

I was thinking contributing max to 401k AND the annual allotment allowed to a ROTH IRA. Isn't that available at his daughter's age?

  • Dollar Cost Averaging: Viable For Individual Stock Portfolios? [View article]
Let you all know in a year how it turns out. Been reallocating a portfolio from the premises of the dividend articles (above 3% yield, PE, ROE, and DGR 6% or above, value on aristocrats) using cash only, which is best for me right now. An interesting experiment, no?

  • Why You Need To Be A Dividend Growth Investor: DGI Vs. Growth For The Long Haul [View article]
    Dave:

Thank You very much for your article ( all your articles). I'm trying to build up my portfolio with dividend stocks as you described. I do have dividend stocks which I bought at value that the dividends do not increase but neither do they decrease; when great dividend stocks come in at value then I switch out and sell a so-so dividend stock to purchase a great dividend stock and meanwhile I still have dividends and profit.

Had a 401k that I diligently gave maximum and the company did start matching eventually but lost over half in 2009. When I contacted the investment firm about a 6 month 5 figure loss and was told 'it's the overseas stocks', I asked how to become involved in the investments. I wish that something, anything had been taught or mentioned on investment in high school (I went to trade school). Had not a clue about anything until I read the books you all suggested and read all the articles. Thank You all very much.

It's the patience that's the hardest part.

  • Mosaic Stumbles In Its Fiscal 2013, Is The Bottom In Yet? [View article]
POT is a Canadian based company (Saskatchewan), just thought I'd mention. Bought more on this 'little' dip; POT recently raised dividend to .35 and is at 3.8% yield with an announced stock buy back. This down trend is caused by another company's announcement, and just dragging down the rest in the news. Buying opportunity. Love it!

We of the unemployed whose benefits ran out and are not any longer considered as part of the statistics, so the percentage goes down; but, are doing 2 to 3 part-time jobs. Mine include cleaning houses, and mowing lawns/doing landscape work; so at late middle age I'm doing the same jobs that I did in high school summers for school clothes, shoes and books. The local Job Service recently posted 150 jobs opening on a new correctional facility; 1200 people applied. I'm so happy about the reasonable 4% unemployment rate.
