Sorry folks; this comment is not from a learned economist. But doesn't this article scare the hell out of you. I worry that we are seeing the decline of western civilization. Which might not be a bad thing!

One more comment from the ancient one down here in Takes us. I hereby declare Mr. Harry Long the winner. Thank you, sir, for the lessons in economics. Now take a break; the typos indicate you need one. I'll spare y'all the personal stories of yore. Lou
Crisis brewing ? Have a cup a. Two ways have been mentioned: A revolution; B throw the bums out. A is much easier to achieve than B. FDR did both. Where he couldn't throw out (supreme court) he packed. Social security is enough revolution, but he did more. Some of us remember. A childhood female playmate forced me to sing, "Hail hail Smith's in jail; Hoover was elected just as I expected." She became an aviator. I remember people working for nothing just to keep their hands in. Unemployed coal miners went to college. Other unemployed sat in the park and played penny ante. Still others talked communism; some joined. Theater groups performed for food. As you can see those were heady days. They could not have been predicted.
I have just read this article and "Is it Time to Recognize Reality ?". This after having talked with our granddaughter. After offering her a sample of a book mark I designed for my own use and which could be commercialized, I am having second thoughts. Why wish her that crass world?
On balance the article and comments have convinced me that solar is a winner. But there is risk, something I need less and less of, so I must be careful.
In the can't win department how about this; this town gets our water from a deep well. I was enjoying hot showers without having to heat water. Then a lady complained that hot water was killing her flowers, so everybody was assessed $25 to buy a cooling unit. When I lived up north people put their water in the sun, because it was too cold for the garden.

Years ago I won big with Corning. Then I lost it all on (you guessed it) Corning. Be careful. GLW is a great company; give it the respect it deserves. A visit to the plant is a rewarding experience.

Just noticed all this old guy's stuff is heavily involved in data transfer; even the country phone companies and probably power. Trying to digest these articles about them is a bit daunting. Good luck fellas.
