Great metaphor. Didn't read the whole article, but the restaurant under new management is exactly the reason I'm staying away. If it looks too good to be true it probably is.

RE: Buffet and options, why go any further than the horse's mouth? His 2008 newsletter has makes some excellent points about derivatives, and he discusses his own derivatives plays for that year. I'm just using the 2008 newsletter because it was practically the first hit on a google search.
Good luck to you and may I suggest that you try not to be so dismissive of opinions that differ from your own. Your market experience will be improved.

Naivete in your assessment of a titan of the insurance industry. You think he doesn't practice risk management in his extensive portfolio? And just where do you get this information from?
Arrogance in the tone of your writing here on this thread and everywhere else I've had the misfortune to encounter you.
I can appreciate that you're a bit frayed about your Apple investment, but there's no need to take that out on folks here or anywhere else.
I hate to say it Hank, but back then they had Steve Jobs to lead them back from the dead. People are selling it because Apple just isn't Apple any more.
AH yes, phat bankster, a good emotional response to loss, just to provide an example of every failing characteristic the author of this article should be commended for avoiding. thank you!

Apple's lost market cap -- just today -- qualifies it as the third largest single day loss of market cap in history. IN A RAGING BULL MARKET. I think it's safe to say there are more sellers than buyers at the moment. It's hard to imagine things won't go your way until they don't -- but it's imperative to anybody buying dips to consider what it will look like if they are wrong. I say this from a market neutral perspective, just a concerned bystander. Whatever very significant forces there are out there who seem dead-set on distributing this stock can probably push it a lot lower before it recovers.

You have no clue about what Warren Buffet or his massive team of investment professionals does. The simplistic naiveté of your worldview is only exceeded by your arrogance.
