Financial Times Debunks Citi's Memo [View article]
Citi made a lot of money in the past. maybe some of that through the credit bubble and unsustainable. But they have a huge worldwide franchise I would not write them off as yet. I bought the stock several years ago at 27 on the way up to 50 I thought I was so smart. Sold them around 40.Now to see them at 1 is quite remarkable, are those assets that bad? Nobody gives them a chance, the stock is probaly a screaming buy here. Two years from now its probaly back in double digits. If they can ditch the goverment.
Thank You jbmaria no need to save us from ourselves. We can do our own due dilligence and research. I have read some of your nonsense posts and they are pathetic. Look, if you think ETFC is the worst investment a person can make great, you made your point. Find somewhere else to spread your negativity. If you have short postion in ETFC great, try to stick to real issues surrounding the Company to explain your postion not some 1999 Enron B.S. I have news, Enron is done, over. But to have someone claim as you over and over,I have no position, I sold at the top, I am smarter than everyone else, All you people are foolish for believing in this Company, thats makes me "queasy" (not in 1999 right now in 2008)
I have been holding this stock and some various call options since November last year and it has been a test of patience, but turnarounds always take time this one is no different. This stock wont budge in my opinion untill they prove (even with their morgage and consumer loan exposure) they CAN make a profit. Which I believe that day is coming soon. We could not have better leadership than is currently in place, these banking veterans have the experience and ability to right this ship. But it will not happen overnight it would be foolish to think it could. So ETFC investors need to sit tight and wait, and when the stock getting dragged down by unfounded negative sentiment as it is currently is, buy more. I believe someday ETFC investors will be rewarded nicely.
