  • In Battle Of Market Influencers, Putin Takes Round 2 [View article]
I did some major selling over the last couple of weeks. Any body else do the same?
I feel like some professionals think now is the time to sell ... but twice that many articles say stock values will continue upward so don't sell yet.
Any body else feel like you're reading the same articles? Two to one, "stay in for the ride up because the market has room to rise"?
My selling frenzie was to pay down our mortgage, looking to pay it off asap. The professionals that say "it's time to sell" make me want to reduce my risk.

  • Significant Returns Possible With These Inverse Volatility ETFs [View article]
I have made some money short term with buying and selling SVXY, about 7 different times so far in the past couple months. Am I going to get 7 K-1's (or more, if I keep doing this), or will I get just one K-1?
I am trying to profit from spikes in SVXY, because the highs and lows leave room for gain. Maybe this is riskier than I thought??? Any opinions?

  • Retail casts away doubts on equities [View news story]
Hi, GrizzlyT, when you see the outlook getting gloomy for real, let me know. I want to get out before the next market dip and save my current capital gains.
I also appreciate Seeking Alpha for reliable info. However, not everyone is saying the same thing. One person says sell now, another says stocks are still selling for less than value.
I currently own about 50 solid stocks, all still look like good choices to me, but I would sell them in a heartbeat if I thought they were about to drop in value/share. I'm only a decade away from retiring.
Are you following anyone in particular? What (or who) do you consider the most reliable source of info? What indicators are you relying on?
I appreciate opinions from the SA readers! Please post!

  • After The Fed Decision: Three Things Investors Need To Know [View article]
Do you play the guessing game by selling puts or by selling calls? See Jeff's first bullet point under Investment Implication, where he says sell calls.

I've got some $$ to invest, but whenever I do so and the market goes down right after, I get grumpy.

  • Restaurant industry on watch with labor getting unruly [View news story]
Thank you for reminding us that our financial and life decision should be based on Biblical truths. I also am a believer.
I believe all people should enable themselves and their children to earn a decent living. Earn it, not be given it.
What is going to happen with the wage scale for those who do work extremely hard (the ditch diggers), those who got an education... are they going to go from making, say, $15 per hour to making $24 per hour?
I am concerned about the balance.

  • A Young Investor's DGI Plan And Portfolio [View article]
I agree that Erik should diversify more. If you use the 5% as mentioned by Bucknfl, you can have about 20 stocks in your portfolio. I don't think that is too many to keep track of.
