  • SandRidge Energy And Its Potential Bankruptcy Risk [View article]
    I gave up on SD earlier this year when the bad news first started gaining steam. Very happy that I bailed. Too big of head winds for this stock to recover. The current board is apparently falling apart, class action law suits, financial statement restatements, FBI and SEC investigations, falling oil prices, loosing key personnel, cash squeeze, and that is just what we know about. There is no reason to invest into a company that have these issues. Put your money to work somewhere else...

  • MORL January Dividend Will Result In A 24.7% Annualized Yield [View article]
    Thank you for the updated estimate. As always, knowledge / information is power. Looking forward to a great 2015. MORL provided my portfolio with a 22.12% return in 2014 based upon my average cost basis. Wish all of my holdings provided such a return.

  • SandRidge Energy: A Strong Start For Q2 2014 [View article]
    With the fall of Bagdad only days away, the price of oil is already started to peak;

    Iraq is in the death spiral and the results will include a spike in oil prices. I predict $125 bbl North Sea crude by month’s end. SD, and all of the domestic oil producers, should be a good play.

    I like their investment portfolio and their operational expense levels. Seems like a well-managed operation. Great yield in a growth industry of financing and investing for small and midlevel growth businesses.

  • China Mobile added ~1M iPhone users in February [View news story]
    So, February China Mobile sales added an incremental $700,000,000 in gross sales? Doesn't sound that bad. Wonder how many units were allocated / available / are on order?

  • BofI Holding: A Bank Model Fraught With Peril, 65% Downside Based On 1.6 X Book Value [View article]
    Disclosure; I bought in about a year ago and had a sell order when it hit $100. I no longer have a position in BOFI. I worked in banking in the late 1990's for I understand how the BOFI business model is designed as well as some of the issues that BOFI is now facing.

    I tend to agree with your analysis, I have read every SEC filing and have read or listened to every presentaion since June of 2012. Based upon the current price of BOFI, I would not recommend a buy at this level. I am concerned about the reduced margins and additional regulations that BOFI is facing. My feeling is that BOFI has reached a point of diminishing returns and there are better financing organizations to invest in.

  • SandRidge Mississippian Trust II: Don't Get Caught When The Music Stops [View article]
    I believe that the comment was; "If we take a conservative annual distribution of 50c after 2016, that alone is $7.5. I am curious how the author came to his number of "SDR's remaining lifetime distribution is $8.25." Not $.75 annually as you state. Although that would increase the post 2016 payout to over $12. What realized price spread and market price was used in your model? Was it linear?

    A key factor is the residual exit value that is realized at a particular exit date. Think uninformed investors / EPS / Dividend Rate bait, inflation rates, etc.

    Thanks for the information.

  • Analysis: Diageo could top Suntory's bid for Beam [View news story]
    One would think that Beam would be more valuable to Diageo than to Suntory. Suntory will have to retain Beam's administration, distribution and marketing infrastructure (i.e., at least in North America and Europe) since they do not have a strong functional distribution system or management structure in those markets. However, Diageo could incorporate the Beam brands and operations on a more efficient basis.
