  • Dubai: The Counter Trade [View article]
Some good thoughts in the commentaries but I didn't see any mention of a counter trade in the article, just in the lead title.
Bruce, a better title might have been Dubai: Old News

  • Betting Big on Small Cap China [View article]
Cameron, Many thanks for some well thought out analysis. There are not a lot of people covering small caps in China and I'm always grateful when I find someone who is not just pushing a stock to dump it later.
Please keep up the good work and thank you for the above.

  • NF Energy: Continuing Its Robust Growth [View article]
dual cit - I think you are being a little narrow minded about this. Although I agree with you that I would like to see some intelligent analysis on Chinese Biopharm, I also very much appreciate Mike Havrilla's analysis (although too brief for me) about NF Energy. I think it was an intelligent, well thought out piece and I will certainly continue with my own due dilligence on the company and keep it on my watch list.
Thanks Mike. You analyze anything you want. I believe it's written into the US Constitution!

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
I'm still driving my 1995 Lexus. I think it's the best car they ever made. It's just turned over 120 kms and it's still going strong. It costs me about $500 a year in maintanence, which is less than I paid for an oil change with my Mercedes!
I will trade it in for a new one when it starts to look it's age!

  • Friday Options Update: EBAY, HUM, EEM, C, XLV, GM, LVS [View article]
At $2.22 a share, the stock is priced as an option. If you're bullish on LVS then you might as well buy the shares and hold on for the ride. Anyone buying the April $5 call today needs to see the stock price increase above $5.25 for them to make any money; if the same person bought the shares, they would see an easy double if the stock hit $4.44. Why bother risking your money on an option when LVS is trading as a penny stock today?
You will also be helping the cause by buying the shares; buying the options only helps the market maker.

  • Canadian Dollar's Downturn Has Run Too Far - Citigroup [View article]
A way to capitalize on a rise in the Canadian dollar would be a put spread on CDD - the ISE Canadian dollar FX.
To give yourself time for the CDN dollar to get back to where it was a few months ago, I would use the month of September and the spread from the value today of $127.50 to where it was back in January with a target of $121.00
You would buy the Sept 127.50 (.HUHUO)put and sell the $121 put (.HUHUB). This scenario will cost $278 per contract with a break-even at $124.72 and a maximum profit of $372. when the dollar hits $121. Your maximum loss will be the cost of the trade ($278) and you will lose all of it if the US Dollar is at $127.50 or higher.
I think the CDN dollar has a pretty good chance of hitting $121. by mid-September, so the trade should end up being pretty profitable.
    Good Trading!

  • Free ETF Pick: Play on Infrastructure Spending [View article]
This article was a complete waste of time. The author might also have said the economy might get worse before it gets better, or gold and silver will benefit when the US dollar tanks.

A complete waste of SA time and space.

  • Do the Olympics Matter to Markets? [View article]
No comment on the indicator, which I also think is BS (sorry about the contradiction).
What surprises me is India; I watched most of the Olympic coverage and I didn't see any Indian athletes; not one. How I managed to miss that one gold is a complete mystery to me. How does a country the size of India not manage to produce any Olympic athletes (save one)?
