  • The Implosion Is Near: Signs Of The Bubble's Last Days [View article]
I've been wanting to dabble in options for a while. I understand the very raw basics of how they work, but that's it. Strategies such as naked spreads, vertical spreads, etc. I haven't grasped yet. I also don't understand why traders will buy, for instance, a call option so far out of the money when a contract is going to expire in a few days with no chance of it reaching that price? When I see things like that it makes me want to sit on the sidelines and watch. If there was a class in the area I would take it, but I haven't found anything yet.

I was wondering the same thing. What does one invest in when the market does turn? I looked at the gold charts going back to 2008 and even gold didn't seem to be a safe play until the market started recovering. Shorting isn't always an option for the small investor, especially if most of the money is held in a retirement account, so what is one to do?

  • Will Silver Remain Close To $20? [View article]
Do production/mining costs factor in to any of this? I bought nat gas when I saw that prices were far below where a company would able to make money. I've seen reports for silver mining costs anywhere from $8 to $24/ounce. If a company can't make money, they'll reduce mining (maybe). Because I don't know the real costs your guess is as good as mine which way prices will go but I'm leaning towards up.....

  • Starbucks: Gaining Momentum [View article]
I agree with the article and love the stock....and drink the coffee. One thing that bothers me that I see everyday when I go to get my local Starbucks are the people that leave because the line takes so long. Where I'm from, on any given day, there is around 12-15 cars in the drive through. Without fail, a car or 2 (only that I witness with my own eyes) pulls away mad as heck because they have been in line for 10+ minutes. When people are in a hurry at 7:30 am and don't have 10-20 mins to wait in a drive through they will remember that and won't come back. I think Starbucks in all their brilliance needs to find a way to speed up these lines. I don't know what % are actually leaving, but if it's even 1% - 5% it may be worth addressing if that translates into another $150 - $500 million in revenue....as well as a better experience which is what Starbucks is known for.

  • Will Natural Gas Bounce Back? [View article]
I think I'm out of my league on this. I read about contango and still don't understand it. I think I'm going to sell after tomorrow's report and move on to something I understand a little more.

  • Will Natural Gas Bounce Back? [View article]
Can anyone explain why a lot of investors think UNG is not an appropriate investment vehicle for nat gas? I see that it has underperformed nat gas by almost 16%, but why is that?
